I couldn't drive a 288GTO. I'd have to pull over ever 2 minutes to get out and look at it.

That's very nice indeed, but if I could buy any Ferrari I think it would have to be the 250GTO:

I was riding up the M6 on my ZZR many years ago sitting at 100mph when one of these pulled alongside for a bit then rocketed off in to the distance. I could swear it was that bloke from Pink Floyd driving it, beautiful car - that is the only one I've ever seen.

Apparently they go for upwards of $30million these days

Not bad for a car that cost around $18k new in 1962

Remember seeing a 288GTO in the Ferrari workshop when we were at Monoco.

Most people were completely oblivious to it and drooling over the 458 at the entrance

...saw it once as a young teen, and my excitement was lost on my father who was never a huge prancing horse fan, even less so after testing a testarossa in Southampton, claiming it was tacky hahahaha

No, he was a Ferrari dealer, his 288GTO had 308GTO reg number
