fuel rail leak

changed fuel rail earlier and went for test run. All was well. Popped out this eve and now heavy leak under throttle body. Anything obvious I could have done wrong? Hope it is just that the two screws at left end of rail are loose. Are there any seals that must be replaced each time?

Hi Robin can you tell where its leaking from,
Strange it should only leak under full throttle? Its not a boosted car that has VFPR on it? If not then the fuel pressure should be at a constant pressure regardless of load so could it be the fuel pipe is under strain then when under load the torque move of the engine is stressing the connector?
I changed several fuel rails and never had an issue with seals so dont think your suppossed to change o rings etc.

Is this a K series Robin? If so there is an o ring in the feed end of the rail that can sometime be a pain once its been removed. I usually replace it with a smear of grease to stop it getting nipped on the way in.

That's the only place I can think it would leak from near the throttle body.

Hi Dan - yes K series - I thought might be the problem - I've probably knackered the O-ring. Still at least it failed today rather than on the motorway with a red-hot exhaust!

Craig, it leaks all the time - the leak is from underneath the throttle body (which is where the metal pipe with the elbow pipe in it meets the plastic fuel rail).

I'll remove some stuff and see whether the screws will tighten further - if not, I'll remove the fuel line again and see if I have a replacement (I had once upon a time ...).

Ahh misread. Long way but ive a complete manifold sitting and have new orings if your stuck.

OK, I had nicked the O-ring. Put that down to getting up to early

So I need to source a replacement before Thursday! Anyone know what the actual dimensions are? It would appear to be 8x3.5 (mm, measuring ID and cross-section diameter).

Halfords do an O-ring kit but it doesn't look like it has that dimension.

Anyone got any ideas where to get one in or around Edinburgh - will ring Murrays and see if they have them, though it seems an unlikely thing for them to have in stock.

Yup - every fecking time I've disconnected that union, I've knackered that O ring trying to get it back together. My Dad had a big bargain box of o-rings from somewhere that's got some of the right size.
