roadboy not a goodboy
Re: roadboy not a goodboy
Just a reminder: no "me too" postings please. If you have messages for Dan (or anybody else, for that matter) that you want to broadcast on the list and you think that this is a useful way to communicate please create your own thread.
I would doubt very much that posting such messages will achieve much if you're not able to contact him by email or telephone, he's unlikely to respond to you here.
Cheers,
Robin

Well, when you send a PM to somebody, it goes in the 'Outbox' folder and then, when the recipient reads it, it moves to the 'Sent messages' folder, isn't it?
I'm only trying to understand how do PM's function here.

Yes, it will disappear from your Outbox when the recipient has read it.

Thanks, it's how I thought

R: roadboy not a goodboy
I tried to contact him in every way in the last 24 hours:
-Emailed to: dan@spsautomotive.co.uk => No answer
-Pm'd here => He reads but he doesn't answer
-Called on land phone and mobile phone => Only the answering machine answers me
I'm doing all that's in my possibilities.

Fabio,
I understand that you're having problems contacting Dan, and I understand your frustration. The point I am trying to make is that if he won't communicate with you via the normal routes (telephone, emails, etc.) then it is unlikely he will communicate with you in the thread either.
I hope you and Dan can sort this out, but I do not believe that there is more to be gained by posting further on this thread.
Cheers,
Robin

Re: roadboy not a goodboy
Now there has been a happy resolution...
I often wonder about some of the specialist Lotus companies we deal with. Some of them are large companies with a number of staff with large turn over and stock. Others are very small specialists with maybe only one person doing everything. I have never had a problem with any of the larger companies such as Elise parts and Hoffmans.
A few one man band specialists are favourites on here. Companies like 2Bular, SLS and SPS have always had issues with getting in touch. This is part of the nature with this set up. You need to have some switch off time and nobody else is available to deal with business issues when you need to take time out for family. I have been guilty of venting my frustrations on here about contact issues and not getting what you thought you were getting. Sometimes you need to step back and think of the reason why someone isn't getting back in touch.

You think most of excuses are justifiable then?Victor Meldrew wrote: Sometimes you need to step back and think of the reason why someone isn't getting back in touch.

Re: roadboy not a goodboy
Quite clearly no, sorry if it came over that way. If any one man business offers a service and gives the impression of being a professional concern then they should offer services to the same standard as a larger company.scottishselise wrote:You think most of excuses are justifiable then?Victor Meldrew wrote: Sometimes you need to step back and think of the reason why someone isn't getting back in touch.
If they state at the outset that they are a small operation and cant always get back in touch straight away or may not be able to answer emails when they are off on holiday etc then thats a different matter. I think there is a temptation to over state what type of business set up they have and what you can and can't do, its part of advertising and marketing. We have seen similar gripes over the years for other specialists. The initial complaint is normally along the lines of "Why can't they do this" ... "you wouldn't expect this to happen at a main dealer". Its part of the reality of the bloke your dealing with is not working out of a large purpose built garage with staff, they are working out of a lock up or their garage on there own.
I dont think there is any excuse for not acknowledging communications, even if it is to say that "Yep, got your message, sorry not managed to sort this out yet..........."
I have dealt with Dan for several years now. I truly believe there is an underlying honesty to him, disorganised and forgetful at times and a pain in the arse to get a hold of as well but he knows his stuff.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Its a shame things have to come to this. No one is saying in either case they are not 'decent' people etc but they have no idea I 'presume' to know how frustrating it can be when trust was placed and a chuck of £$£ is not where it should be.
