Kids love the elise - always wave at them if they point/gape/wave/shout/smile - they'll associate the friendly wave with the car and one day will become friendly lotus owners, we hope :-)

My new toy (Yellow S2 Exige S with stripes) really turns a lot of heads - quite surprised at the difference in reaction - kids still love it, but I think some adults look at it and see a race car on the road and this makes them frown. Of course it has a standard exhaust as I couldn't tolerate all this popping, banging and gratuitous tunnel revving ;-)

Cheers,
Robin

Whether S1 owners like it or not, this variant still carries that slight hint of "beach buggy" which is generally guaranteed to make anyone smile.

I remember vividly, driving around Duns during the Jim Clark Rally in 1999, the day after I got the car, following Cameron in his (then quite special) Impreza Turbo Terzo edition c/w ScoobySport exhaust. It was very clear - the wee boys were gawping at the Scoob. The girls - legal or otherwise - were seriously drawn by the Elise.

Case closed!

The 2 year old boy a couple of doors down knows the words 'Mum', 'Daddy', 'bye-bye' and 'Alan's car'.

On the popping and banging front; a K with a friday afternoon map's where it's at.

Used to love going under bridges with the Larini
Took the kids to see Shrek last week. Had to take the wifes Abarth though, as she'd taken my Megane to work.
Parked in the multi-storey...windows down... what a sound the stock exhaust makes on that thing, echoing off the walls

lol ....its nice to hear im in good company on this :D . and i agree that adults look and frown disapprovingly.(which makes me smile)

robin, if you have a exige S.... then the exhaust stage dosn't matter!..........ive been told the whining of that SUPERCHARGER is really addictive :twisted:yum yum give me some...

yeah, i have noticed the lotus does get quite a bit of attention....and so it should! :) Colin Chapman was on to something when he put pencil to paper.

im hoping the lotus F1 team will bring new and exciting innovations to the new lotuses of tomorrow :thumbsup .......
