Excellent result for Hamilton, really felt Massa deserved the title overall though. A very scrappy season by Hamilton, way too many mistakes, he's very fortunate the best driver on the grid (Alonso) hasn't been in a more competitive car this year.

A fitting result despite the best efforts of the FIA earlier in the season.
Hamilton did enough ( just) - Massa did what he had to and was dignified in defeat & the rain made yet another race a nailbiting watch.
Shame DC ended his career on lap one though

Specifically what have you seen of him that makes him a tosser? He comes across as a down to earth decent bloke. In fact their whole family seem really decent as far as you can judge these things from what little you see or read about them.

All I've seen is a hard working devoted father doing his best to help his son realise his dream. The results speak for themselves - youngest ever F1 World Champion and his dad has played a big part in this achievement. They also seem a really close family too.

I don't think he looked great when he snapped that Lewis needed a drink but I can quite understand it - the crowd were not very friendly and the media scrum was living up to its name.

You have to admire what his father has done, and sacrificed, to help his son reach where his talent deserved to be taken. Lewis was right in the middle of probably the greatest moment of his life, and to stop in front of a stadium of boo-ers probably wouldn't have been the best way to savour it....

I am glad Lewis has won, it is a superb achievement and over the season I thought he deserved it.....hollywood finish!
I appreciate the story of his fathers sacrifice and effort to get his son where he is today.
On TV Lewis' father seems to have an unfortunate manner and often says things that lose Lewis fans (I assume I am not alone in this belief?), an example yesterday was in the "scrum", where he cut his son off and said about needing water...."we'll speak to you later" would have done instead?
I did not like Lewis until he went on TG, where I thought he was superb.......I just can't stand his father!
Only my opinion, millions will disagree with me!

Strangely underwhelmed

Although neither had a great or flawless season I think hamilton deserved it so i'm pleased on that note. However the race was so surreal at the end that it almost took the shine off things as you didnt get a chance to enjoy the build up to the win as we'd all assumed massa had it. Does that make sense?

Anyway best man won and i'm looking forward to massa coming into next year as a force to be reckoned with

Yep my initial reaction was anticlimax...after a real edge-of-seat 90 mins beforehand! But when you realise that Maclaren knew they were racing Glock...and not Vettell...as they rain came on, it puts a fresh perspective on it all.

Anyway the boy done good, and Massa's been a true sport - from what I have seen so far.

So Sundays are now brightened up by Top Gear instead

And the alternative perspective is, perhaps our countrymen are simply prepared to prioritise the attentions of the media who promoted them and helped enable them to achieve the stature they have.

It simply stupefies me how well us Brits set up then just as quickly knock down those achieving greatness.

Hamilton is not an inspiring driver. Maybe in 10 years he'll be the greatest ever and I'll eat my words, or maybe any one of the other 10 upcoming young talents (Vettel FTW!) who haven't had bottomless investment since age 10 but still made it to F1 will show him for the boring product of corporate and media manufacturing that I believe him to be.

Yesterday was simply "How to buy an F1 championship in 10 years or less".
