Now that's what I call a present.

I'll show Pauline when I get home and she'll want to come straight up and see him.

There is a story behind this, but it just sounds ridiculous.

Verian and I had already decided that after Thor had gone, that would be it, no more dogs. Main reason was that although hardly any of you have seen me on crutches, I cannot walk far without them. We have had GSD's for 30 years, and they have ran, walked and played with me over thousands of miles. But it is not fair to have one if you cannot do this.

However when I was staying at Andys last Friday, I had a dream that I had force landed in the desert in Oman in my helicopter a few miles from our border position. I had no radio contact so started walking, but after a few hundred yards the legs went, and I had to lie down, and thought that was the end. Then an old man on a donkey came past, gave me water, stroked my hands, and told me that I could walk back to Simba, and that I would be able to run again. So usual silly dream.

However on the Saturday at KH I walked miles sorting things out, did not have my crutches, and as Andy saw I was knackered. On Sunday, same again, and I arrived home knackered. However on Tuesday my legs felt different and sort of strong, and I sprinted from one end of the house to the other, which is around 100 metres.

I did this again when the family came home from Lanzarote on Friday, and told Verian that I wanted a puppy, as I would now be able to walk him, had partly got over Thor, but could not imagine not having a dog again, so now I have Khan.

I got a second life nine years ago with S_E, and looks like it has happened again with a new puppy.

Now off to have a sunday roast and get pissed on Fathers day.

The body is just like the car - it'll just get all siezed up if you don't use it.

So in true spirit, you'll have to keep giving those legs a good thrashing.

Last one, I promise.

We built a little den for him in the kitchen, but never thought that he would look at it. However he settled in on Verian’s lap on the way home, sick twice into the towel, quite normal, took him 30 mins at home to get acquainted with the family, then tore around the house and garden, ate his lunch and a chewy, and then crashed out into it and fell asleep.

Everybody loves him.

Cheers

David & Verian.
