Front Mintex 1144's

Post by woody » Fri Nov 09, 2007 6:52 pm

Anyone had a problem fitting these to the callipers? I went to build up my front's last night only to find the mintex pads were a fraction too long to slot in :? I've filed the backing metal down on one of the pads, and it now fits, but didn't think I should have to do that. the Greenstuff that I removed fit no bother - Visually the mintex looked a few thou or so longer if I squinted, I would have checked the lengths more accurately but didn't have a set of callipers handy.

I never had any problems. Possible that the caliper had built up a layer of old brake dust and had narrowed the gap a little.

The calipers are off the car and have been well cleaned, so it's not that. Still not checked the lengths of the two type of pad.

Yep, thats the part number, no question they are the right pads.

I've now measured them. The mintex pads average 3.026" at the longest section, the Greenstuff average 3.014" at the longest section. Quite some difference. I've filed one down to size already, so will probably adjust the others to suit. I know Mac said to machine them, but for all the hassle, i'll just dress them down with a file; they really need tot much more than de-burring.
