Have to agree with everyone else here! Glad noone was hurt - no other car involved etc etc!

Get back in there and drive it - just go easy on the angry pedal in the wet!

It's an eye-opener seeing the back end kick out and not come back! With some training you'll be able to catch it before it goes all the way!

Get on a Walshy day!

Did a similar thing on my local testing back road in the Evo. Too much loud when exiting a bend followed by fish tail followed by clipping the verge. Thankfully there was no kerb so just a wheel full of stones.

Wet track days are good for learning more control too. :D

In the mean time, god help me

Gary.
Would be better if you had a car each then... Take your own car down and try to hire Walshy's Elise to give you both as much driving/practice time as possible. Sharing a car will just shorten the time you have to practice and you wont get nearlly as much out of it.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

If you want to drive this sort of car well (or even safely) its money well spent.

Sorry to hear of you accident - remember the laws of physics when its wet, and its always worth understanding how the car adjusts in respect to your inputs and the likely consequences.

If you are at Kh on Saturday though, pop your head in, and if I've time I'll take you out in the RLC on track - that should bring a smile back :D

Sorry to hear of your incident Gary... can happen to anyone, not just a new driver.

I broadsided her in April in the wet which knocked my confidence a little... and also ended up down a ditch in my old kit car in damp (geo was way off mind you). Been driving 16yrs, and I'm sure it will happen again at some point.

At least now you realise why everyone has been trying to urge caution... not to be patronising, but to help you realise that there is a limit somewhere. It is possible to drive beyond that limit... but I'm certainly not one for trying that out on the roads.

Agree with all the comments so far... take it as a good thing, a reality check if you want... and get back driving with a smile on your face. Find that limit on a Track/Walshy day, and start to enjoy the car sliding in safe(r) surroundings.

:drive

Best advice i ever had when i got the VX was....

You're driving along a wet road and you want to put the foot down. Before you do this ask yourself this question

Are the front wheels straight?

If yes then yes you can gently put the foot down.

If no then no you can't !

We've all had "moments" it's just part of the driving experience!
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

I will bring along my copy of the CAR LIMITS dvd for you to watch... You can give it back after youve done your Walshy day. Watch it at least once a week but stick to the steering and the brake sections. The advanced stuff will come later.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

And it's also quite amusing to watch, considering Walshy couldn't remember he was a racing driver the week previously (concussion!)

He's less dour in real life!

Very good Simon.

No it doesn't, but can you say you've never had a 'thank **** I got away with that' moment? Think he's learned a valuable lesson, don't you?
