just phoned guy at noble and told him i aint interested . Cars not exactly what i want and thought he would budge a bit on price . only asked for 500 quid cheaper as i was really stretching my budget at £24500 , no part ex- , cash in hand . and he wouldnt budge !

also had another car lined up from another source , declared i aint interested in that either .

the right one will come along i guess ! not unless he calls me back with a
better price .

would have stretched my budget though for both cars if dealer would have came and gone even a little but nope not a blip .both cars were perfect for me but as you said I, will find another car and eventually, they do however have to sell it

Just get on pistonheads.com - there are a fair few, of much better spec and value - shame you couldn't have done a deal with Lee before he PX'd it!

Wise move, have you seen the black one at Murrays? Might be worth giving Graeme a call, try and twist his arm a bit!

Probably a bit late now but yes it is my old car. I think 24k would be a good price, Graeme at MMC said he could get 25k for it easily.
Lack of packs/A.C may make it harder to sell but I never wanted them or the 60 odd kilos weight they would add. :)
I think you'll struggle to find another at a dealer that is '07 spec, low miles, always garaged, never tracked or been in a ditch.
P.M me if you want some more details that you may be able to use to haggle the price down a bit.

black one at murrays was the first I viewed , again base pack and 20k miles , for 25 grand thought was a bit steep .

lotus lee , I really like your old car m8 it swas perfect in everyway bar the aircon , if he would just give me it for 23and a half i would jump on it but the bloody git wont move as of yet !....gonna leave it a few days then maybe give him a call back or you think this is wise ? really dont have a clue what to do now !

Sounds pretty sensible to me. Never heard of a dealer putting the sticker price on the car that they actually need to get (apart from in Gwhittle's case of course ) ... there's always wiggle room! If he wants £24.5 for it, he should have put it on at at least £24,995 ... that way he gives you a discount, you walk away happy and he gets what he wants.... car salesman 101 ffs!!!

It may not seem like it now but if this one does get away... another one will be just around the corner!

I'd be willing to bet as soon as you buy one, the market will suddenly seem flooded with them!!! Always f'ing happens when I buy a car anyway!!!

Cheers,

Dave.

If you've only spoken to him over the phone, he has no idea if you are wasting his time or not... he probably gets lots of phonecalls every day doing just that.

I bet if you were to turn up on a quiet, wet, weekday afternoon ready to buy the car there and then.... he'd be a bit more willing to do you a deal!

Not that I did that when I went in... but then I didn't care..... I just wanted an Elise and didn't care how much I had to pay... I just wanted it there and then!!!!! .... and I'll probably do exactly the same thing when the time comes to change the current one.... he's good he is!!!!

:thumbsup

well your right m8 thats is partly the problem , dont as of yet have the funds although was set to put deposit down on the one at noble . will have the cash in 2 weeks so maybe then i will be able to fight my corner a bit better . I know its maybe a bit pety over a grand or so , but that extra grand is gonna buy me a quad !, my oridginal plan was to spend 20k on a elise , then 5 k on a yamaha raptor .

we've all been there mate, take it for a test drive, return smitten and spend the next weeks of your life working out how the heck you can afford it!! Take a step back and learn from our mistakes. As Dave said, cars are like busses.

All the best mate :)

The black one at least has aircon. I can assure you that Graeme will move on the sticker price, it is after all the end of the month next week! You also get the full years Lotus warranty.

If you can bear the wait you'll get a similar spec car for 22k privately in the winter time but theres alot of summer to miss out on before then. neways, Good luck! :)

I'd agree with Ed there... if you are serious, Greame will budge and you will get a deal.

I was in the same boat as you, I had the money but it was gonna take a couple of weeks to move the funds in to an acccount where I could get them.

I went to view the car 3 times (1 was a test-drive). He knew I was serious... and I now also know that there were at least 2 other interested parties. We agreed on £500 under sticker price finally (and I paid deposit), got the 1yr warranty, plus they did the service and changed the pads/disks all round (to be fair, brakes wasn't part of the deal, but as a result of a cock up on the job sheet).

Go in and see him... Andy.
I have no signature.
