everybody loves a good motorbike crash video - so here's 2

Post by mckeann » Tue Oct 30, 2012 3:51 pm

Recent trip to Portimao, started off wet, then dried off, but i had 2 very wierd crashes on the first morning. Contraray to popular belief, i'm not a mental crasher, having ridden for the last 18 months and 30 odd trackdays without incident, to have 2 in the same morning is pushing it even for me.

We suspect its a bike issue, as the revs didnt really rise to cause the tyre to spin, its like the tyre just slipped sideways as opposed to forward, which is very unusual for a bike, and usually only happens when oil or slippery surfaces are involved.

Anyway, enough chat, he's the action

Have you deduced what happened yet?

Rear tyre?
Oil breather or chain oiler spraying tyre?

Hope the new gimp suit wasn't too scuffed

:cheers

How does the swing arm locate? Plain bushes?

Ps. Preferred the second one.

I thought it was really cool how you managed to get the bike cam to spin round and catch you tumbling arse over tit on both crashes :thumbsup

I'm not sure woody, will find out. Your not the first person to suggest it, and I'm determined to find out.

First one, it let go about a car width away from the apex. My guess would be there has been some car racing recently with big hard compound slick rubber down which makes the racing line really slippy afterwards in the wet untill it washes off. Anyone done a wet trackday after Brittish GT's will agree, even outdoor karting in the wet is the same hence why you stick to the outside white line for most grip.

Second one I think is less technical, can hear the revs rise as is spins up. The guy in front gets a quick exit and appears to be holding a bit of a slide 8)

Hate to say this but enjoyed watching these  .

If it’s any conciliation but the footage is great straight out of a motogp archive……..at the end of the day it more important that you have all your fingers and toes, still.

Second one looked as though it was a classic high side incident….tyre slides, bike slows gains grip and kicks the other way and and it kicks you up of the bike…

Need to put a cam on the tail looking forward....so, we can get a better look of you doing the superman next time you feel like crashing :P

Hope the bikes don’t cost too much to get right again

leigh :thumbsup
