Mr Duncan clearly doesn't have a limited mileage insurance policy! Some crackin' roads up there. Love the title "Circuit de Caledonia" :-)

Great route, what roads were they and how long did it take to do that?

I had a great weekend with the VX boys, good weather on Friday and Saturday, horrendous for the first part of Sunday. We stayed on Skye on the Friday and Durness on the Saturday. Great roads as usual and very little traffic apart for that bloody 12 mile stretch to FW after we had done the Kinlochleven loop.

We left Durness in the morning with storm force winds and torrential rain which ripped my roof off after a few miles. Could barely stand straight to put it back on, but it lasted a few miles before it was shredded, so the rest of the day was roof off. Fortunately the rain eased off but not the wind. At one point when trying to catch up the others at warp factor, it blew me right across to the other side of the road. Most of the 50 miles down to Lairg was single track, but I was able to keep above 70 with the rain going over the top. However when I caught the others up that was down to 50, so had to wait until we hit the main road and was able to pass them all and slot in behind Lewis who was leading. The sun actually came out then and we left the wind and rain behind, so had a good run then for the rest of the day.

Driving standards were excellent, no accidents, no incidents, no tickets, and no breakdowns if you don't count my roof and smalley engine fire. Everybody stuck to speeds they were comfortable with, and Lewis and I swapped the lead up front and had the odd blast to clear the cobwebs.

ps:- pity that you did not have the camera pointing backwards Lewis when we went up Applecross, but a good video of parts of the run. You must have ended up with many hours of it.

I've got hours of the stuff. Just always seemed to have the camera facing the front when leading or rearwards when dawdling at the back. Will try and sort something for next time!

It was funnier when you saw it unfolding in front of you ;)

When we got to the top of Applecross, my mopping up towel was soaking, so I put it on top of the engine to dry out until we started off again, and closed the lid.

A few miles down the other side I could smell burning, smoke was coming out of the rear, and Donkey was honking. The towel had fallen onto the exhaust manifold and just caught fire.

Should have learnt from the day before when the jump lead that I was using for an earth did the same thing and burnt all the plastic coating off.
