Dave
I really like the composition of these. Not that keen on the sepia one but the B&W's work well.
My only criticism is they are all soft (a bit out of focus). I had a look at the EXIF file and see that they were all taken at 1/80th of a second. This is way too long for all but the professional even then that would be in good light conditions. Unfortunately there was no real way round it on Saturday other than cranking up the ISO.
I really struggle to get sharp images any lower than 1/320th when panning.
Well worth trying out some different setting the next time you are out.
(Apologies if I am teaching my granny to suck eggs

Stewart,
I hit on 1/80th at Teeside and was fairly happy, but you are pointing out the obvious to me...and i am glad!! I am very much still in my infancy where photography is concerned!!!
As for the Sepia, yeah it aint my favourite, was just mucking about trying some post shot processing! I would love a VR lens as well, and more decent glass, but just cannot justify it, need to learn to use it properly first before sinking a couple of k into more expensive gear!
I now need another trackday to practice!
Thanks Stewart!

Dave I "upgraded" my 70-300mmG lens to the VR one. I bought the G lens on eBay for about £60 quid and sold it a year later for a little more. I think I paid about £340 for the VR lens and if I am being completely honest with myself, I am hard pushed to see the difference.
I think you are right - it's just a case of getting out there and finding out what works and what doesn't. The Pistonheads forum is nice friendly place to help improve your skilz.
