Says it all really.....
Has anyone put and S2000 engine in an Elise???
What does it say?
AFAIK, you can't mount the engine in an Elise because it's longitudinally mounted. Shame though cos it's a peach.

Anyway, I liked the manouevre up the back straight
Poor bloke - S2000 - they always end up in the armco at the 'ring and KH it would seem ...
Cheers,
Robin
It's how most S2K's meet their doom - lift off oversteer. They're quite long and heavy cars (1240kg), and usually they have a very short angle at which they can no longer be retrieved from a slide gracefully if at all. I saw the crash developing the minute the rears went light - he's obviously only had the car a short time, or never driven it in anger.
Can't say I know him. I'll ask around and see if anyone on the S2K board does.

Ali, must've been a W***field (sorry, can't say it in full

), AFAIK only 1 Caterham has had an S2k lump fitted - apparently the engine is very high, needing a bonnet bulge, plus effin' heavy (ie much more than a K)

Was just speaking to Gaz again last night. He is an Ailine Pilot for KLM, but has been on sick leave for 21 months now due to slipping on a piece of lego on the stairs (ps hope that he does not check out the Oman photos thread..........)
He bought a 2.4 Honda engine back from the States a while back, along with a Jackson S/C kit and a Hondata ECU. Phoenix Engineering is putting it all together in his '98 S1, and is expecting around 310hp and 340 ft/lbs tq.

I met this guy at the beginners trackday session last July, he seemed nice enough but a bit, erm, highly strung...
He didn't seem to really know what he was doing on track, he spun several times during the evening, including once while we were just doing some not especially fast laps behind one of the instructors. He seemed a bit out of his depth to be honest, most people starting trackdays tend to be failry humble and break themselves in gently, but he just seemed to have no concept of where his limits (I say his, not the car's) were
He wasn't especially willing to move over to let faster cars past, so that video looks familiar
