guessing from the date that its Ali in his S2 exige. That car was standard apart from exhaust. Ali is a very smooth, quick driver.

havent watched the video, but alot of where Ali (or any good driver) is fast is from corner exit speed.

I know its a lardy S2 coupe but you make it sound like a tank  Never heard the powerband described as useless before, on track its quite easy to keep it on cam most of the time, Knockhill has a couple of points where you are not but on other circuits its you on cam all the time.

Cant see the vid in work, would like to have seen what cars he is passing.
Even a numpty like me can post a vid of my Exige passing a few cars, the only one that passes me is Andy G

haha! Who told you that.

The Exige is an awesome car, and in the hands of the capable very quick.

If you are worried you haven't the ability to keep it in the power band though, you can get the ecu remapped to get second cam in at 5000rpm, instead of 6200

Just watched that without sound, and having paxed with Ali, he is so smooth, i think a lot of his pace and certainly consistency come from that!

Had some great scraps with Ali in the 111r :D

"Power is nothing without control"

I remember Gordon passing most things (some having probably 50bhp on him, as he had about 135 or something) as he knew how to use momentum and corner speed. No car is fast on it's own and (in the trackday market) it's far more differences in driving than cars that mark out the quick guys.

Can't remember much about that trackday tbh but car was always pretty much standard. Would have had 2bular exhaust (not sports cat) and Pagids 4-2 pads as the only 'mods'. Tyres are 48s.

Catching cars on the straight is all about how fast you exit the previous corner... ;)

Exiges can keep up with modified GT3RS's...in the right conditions. :D

Difficuly to say having never had stickies on the 111S but have driven Gareths Exige on Toyo Proxies. I'd say there's not much in it in terms of outright pace.
I liked the top end rush of the Exige but never quite got on with the brakes (rear circuit lockout at Spa was the clincher) and it used to eat pads... Surprisingly the road handling was sublime (better than my 111S as std. or on Nitrons) although tramlined more due to the tyres.

The 111S pulled really well right to the limiter (although not quite the punch of the Yota) but the single biggest downside was the gearbox. 1st & 2nd ok but 3rd way too long - put a CR box in there and it would match the Exige.
