Didn't appreciate how difficult it was to get sharp images of fast moving cars until I tried it! Can I ask where you find are the best positions to stand and try and get pics? (Assuming you are on the spectators side of the barriers). I've not got a DSLR, only a high-zoom hybrid with a 12x zoom so any place too far away will be out for me.
Also, how much post processing etc is done on most of those? Are they cropped or do you manage to get the subject perfectly in the centre of the frame everytime? Do you use a burst function etc?
Sorry for all the questions, dunno why I picked on you 'cos there are lots of good pics posted on this forum!?
Hi,
I generally hang about by the gravel trap (duffus?), behind the Rizla sign it that helps. There's plenty of action normally and it's pretty good for panning also.
I used both my Canon 350D and 40D on Saturday, with a Canon 100-400mm as my main lens. I always shoot in Manual mode, handheld, in RAW, ISO around 100/200, with other settings depending on the shot. There was no cropping done on any of these shots and just some slight adjustments in DPP (the software that came with my camera), and removed the number plates in photoshop. This is the first time I have had a much higher percentage of "Keepers" than out of focus stuff (took 300 shots and around 270 I was happy with) , it's only taken me one year to learn
Cheers,
Neil.
