That will surely be worse than a 340...?! Unless you have a trailer too...but then that will be very boring!robin wrote:I'm in too. Don't know what car - won't be the banana anyway - uses too much fuelProbably Egor, though strange hankerings to take a caterham ... not that I've ever driven one

Re: FRENCH FROLIC 10 - 21/8 to 28/8
This is the first time this has fallen outwith Eilidh's birthday, which gives me a theoretical shot at it, but as I said earlier in the thread, even in a shared car, it's the best part of a family holiday €€€ wise so I think other than a windfall, it's a pipe dream!
In any case I may be without a Lotus by then.
We'll see. Enjoying the excitement on this thread, at least!

Re: FRENCH FROLIC 10 - 21/8 to 28/8
I am sure when I have looked at this in the past I have worked it out at about £2k all in. I can't remember if that included the cost of tyres and pads but was certainly FF cost, tunnel, fuel, tolls, beer (light weightGourlay83 wrote:looking for some advice from the regular FF ers.
How much spending money will I need, my initial thoughts are £3000. Setting up a standing order to make it a bit easier.
Any thoughts
Alan
I never seem to spend very much when I am there other than fuel. Grub in the evening isn't too bad and it is often the cheapest evens that are the best fun - pizzas from the van in Orange anyone
There are savings to be made on cheaper tyres (possibly), Paine type pikey ferry crossings, taking the non-toll scenic routes and not being first to the bar
Definitely the not the cheapest holiday that you will ever have but possibly one of, if not the best you will ever have.

Re: FRENCH FROLIC 10 - 21/8 to 28/8
It's all down to gearing - any road car must be able to do 80mph at 4,000RPM absolute maximum for me to consider it reasonable to drive it on the motorway; 500RPM either way makes a massive difference; so a 7 with some old 5 speed box in it might well cruise at low RPM in top gear. If it's >4000 RPM at 80mph then it'll need to be trailered (is that a word?), in which case it's a different kind of holiday, but I wouldn't rule it out just yet.

Robin
