Frolic 13 (2015)
Re: Frolic 13 (2015)
I would want an electric one for that price, or at least Chris Froome on a tandem.

ps:- you could buy an Elise for that amount, what were they made out of Iridium?

You know I never noticed when I hired. Those pinarellos and wheels look v nice.C7Steve wrote:Hire bikes still cost 9000 Euro to buy each, (27,000 for the three of us) so we were talking it easy on the way down as we did not want to crash and pay the full price. Brakes are handed on the opposite sides, which made decending a bit tricky at times, but we were still hitting 80km/hr downhill no problem. I even managed a three car overtake in one go and no, they were not parked up. Lolmartins wrote:Many thanks. Better on the way down than up. Lucky it was a hire bikeThey got up, Ali blew a tub on a deep section rim on the way down.

Evora survived Le Luc today too. Cracking wee track. Tyres melting though. 32 degs...
Drove Gorge du Verdon tonight (thanks, Scotty!). Awesome in so many ways.

Re: Frolic 13 (2015)
So we've made it through 3 tracks with no catastrophic failures. Incroyable.
Craig rocked up last night to sweep up the mess, but practically had to make up jobs for today. I'm sure he put a screwdriver through Scib's oil cooler to create a job card.
What an incredible adventure.

Re: Frolic 13 (2015)
I think we're all back.
So are the cars.
All the SE mob vehicles arrived hind under their own steam (I believe). Albeit Dodgy Dave's did its best to expire roadside twice. Once with coolant issues in France (resolved / deferred) and once on M6 (alternator fried by crazy exhaust).
My Evora has been utterly incredible. Though it too lunched a couple of rad fan fuses. First on Col du Galibier, whence I thought it was on fire based on view in mirror =8-o
Thankfully just boiling off coolant, and after a scramble to a lay-by (not easy on the col - think Bealach na Ba), Kenny helped me track it down. It blew again on Friday after 32 degs and many laps at Ledenon, but I think that's really because Craig was now en groupe and the cars realised he needed SOMEthing to do!
My argument with a car park bollard near Annecy is going to hurt in the ££ dept, but it could have been worse. The alloy dings ain't going to be cheap to fix either...
As an all round package, an Evora is THE car to take.
An Exige v6 is the ultimate track weapon along with continental cruising ability, though, especially in Club Racer Pollock Edition spec.
Ali's 211 was perhaps the quickest SE entry on track, and I now call him Moses on account of how the sea of cars always parted in front of him!
Dave's S1 was majestic yet noisy.
Mike's custom built S2 was faster than most things but is apt to vent oil when you least need it.
Nutter of the week goes to Steve for winning the road bike ascent of Mt Ventoux. Vandal of the week goes to Ali for a puncture on a £mega bike wheel on the way down. We mounted an SE rescue and became a cycle team support crew very quickly. Especially Stu whose Exige became the team van...
There is no question that Frolic is expensive, especially all-in for consumables, repairs etc. but I would implore you to try it just once. If they ever do another.

Unfortunately we have had to leave that shed behind. Hoping to mount a rescue operation tomorrow though. Pics to follow...campbell wrote: An Exige v6 is the ultimate track weapon along with continental cruising ability, though, especially in Club Racer Pollock Edition spec.

Re: Frolic 13 (2015)
All fine. Just need 2 new rear tyres tomorrow to get home. Any suggestions on where we can get these would be appreciated. Current best bet is the lotus dealer in lyon

Re: Frolic 13 (2015)
Pleased to report that the coolant drinking was caused by nothing more than a radiator hose clip issue.
A new alternator and a bit more heatshielding should resolve the issues there too.
Long live the shed!!
