Alas, I'd booked my flight back from Brussels a few months ago, as I need to be back at work tomorrow and it was the only way I could attend SpaZ - Nothing to do with UJI's minor hiccup

Excellent trip as always and it was great to catch up. Spa was its usual awesome self and Zolder was great fun. Definitely go back there if it's another double-header with Spa. Eventually got home at 11pm last night after fighting through the Brussels ring road to drop Ross off at the 'kiss and fly' - although he just flew. I ran out of petrol at South Mimms although I'm blaming 'the obstacle on the slip road' which shut the M25 for a while. Fortunately the petrol station is downhill from the roundabout so managed to coast in!

It was good to see UJI Cambell. It's been awhile. I ate my chips off the back of it when it was undergoing repairs - Ross might have a pic.

Great trip, fantastic company and lovely sunny weather! Three very different circuits, and three very different hotels.

The older members of the contingent Including Tut and myself, still out on the town in Norwich till nearly 3am, and the youngest ( Benny ) tucked up in his bed by 10!

Many thanks to Graeme for being such a good host at Hethel, and leading us astray in Norwich, and introducing some of us to the new CEO of Lotus, Jean-Mark Gales.

Malcolm, Kenny and myself were barred from Zolder Circuit having annoyed the noise police twice. The second violation by Malcolm and I was on the very last lap before we were both leaving for Scotland! Mike had suggested that we should leave in style!!

Safely home by midnight last night, taking only 12 hours to drive from Zolder , well south east of Brussels, to Crieff!! Hopefully no digital envelopes in the post next week.

The Evora performed faultlessly despite surprisingly being one of the noisiest cars! Not a drop of oil used, and 28mpg on the journey, despite cruising at 90/95 tuts most of the way. Very comfortable long distance car, unlike Andy and Craig's Atom!

Roll on next year. :cheers

That's me back as well. I had to take a slightly slower journey home in order to prevent the downpipe repair from falling apart :-) It's still in one piece right now, probably just leave it on there for the next 10 years :-)

UJI managed Spa to Edinburgh on a one-stop strategy (I refuelled at Spa before leaving, and refuelled at Luton en route). I make that 42mpg!

It was a superb trip, despite breaking Campbell's car just a little - good to meet lots of new people - apologies if I got your names wrong - I am hopeless at remembering names, though usually remember faces.

Highlight from a track perspective was Spa - Hethel and Zolder are fun, but Spa is the real thing.

Highlight from a social perspective was tandoori butterfly prawn starter ... I'll leave Tut to explain (if he can!), but we were crying with laughter :-)

I can also report that Yokohama C-Drives are OK in the wet, OK on the road but not really cut out as track tyres on a hot/dry Spa ... I could melt them in 2 laps, and those people that know me, know that I don't drift/wheel spin/push the car very hard ... so avoid if you're planning any dry track days (it was all I could get at short notice).

Finally, thanks a million to Campbell for lending UJI to Ross and myself!

Cheers,
Robin

I managed to pull the gearstick out the 211 this afternoon, came off in my hand when going for reverse!!!.
Fantasric repair, sent neil off to Hethel in advance to collect a new full assembly, and i limped to Snettereton in 3rd ans 4th. All repaired before the trackday, so thats another thing off the to do list. Now a have a nice working gearshift and can select gears on track without missing gears. Big thanks to Craig M for the legwork with Lotus and Neil for being the courier.
Snetterton is a really good track. Pity we only had 2 hours.

Hi Bob,

Yes, next year I will probably have fixed Egor :-) That doesn't mean I won't need the usual Bob magic at some point on the trip, though ... that's surely half the fun of it :-)

Cheers,
Robin

Does Egor just want his K bacK?

Glad to play even just a small part in this year's trip. And that's a great pic, Ross.

Kelvin, the vinegar from your chips probably helped clean up the bodywork so thanks for that :-)

Now I have an appointment with a hammock

Indeed - Come last Wednesday evening, SpaZ was a no go for team techno - Till Campbell made his extremely generous offer to lend us UJI :thumbsup

Many many thanks for entrusting us with what must be the only one-owner / ordered from new S1 left on SE :cheers

Now I'm back at work, I'll be going through the pics from the trip and should have a few decent ones of UJI at Hethel & Spa which I'll post up in the gallery (and send the full size files by email to you).

Enjoy the hammock! :)

Exige S not as good on fuel as UJI, 6.36 mpg on track, must have been the aircon causing that :-)

Fantastic trip, good crack and terrific tracks, Zolder a really pleasant surprise.

LOL - I used to use the aircon as an additional engine braking mode - on the way up the mountain, turn it off then at the top of the mountain turn it on to full chill and coast down :-)

Egor does not want its K back, thanks (using nearly as much oil as petrol). I was only mentioning the fuel consumption because Paul mentioned it ...

Cheers,
Robin

Just arrived home after a 7 1/2 hour drive back from Cadwell Park, can't sleep due to the "Red Bull" factor.

What a fantastic week in great company, sleep deprivation was a bit of a problem during the trip but I've got all day tomorrow to catch up on my sleep.

Now need to start saving for next year, just counted up and I got through 577 ltrs of fuel ranging from 30.6 mpg to 7.07mpg. don't even want to think about the drink bill. Well worth it, can't wait for the next one.
