He is still at the same schools. He has been itching for a shot in the Lotus for months. Am away from ABZ at this time but will discuss and if OK will join in the fun at KH although will be bricking it somewhat. Have read about Alan's accident and wish him well.

you have to gaffa tape a blue light to the soft top/roll bar, and make nee naw noises at all times. Other than that, expect lots of people to shout 'its the rozzers, run', and then drive off wildly.
Oh, and dont do what my mate did, which was proclaim how he would be great on track, due to his police driver training, and then spin into the gravel on the first corner of his first lap
Re: SIDC - Knockhill, Saturday 18th September 9-1pm
Right. Kitchen pass approved and ratified. Helmets arranged. Friend coming along to help calm nerves.
Watched the BTCC meet on the TV yesterday and can only hope none of the drivers involved will be staying over till the 18th!
Insurance is through CCI but the person coming along for the day is not on my insurance policy but will be driving. Anyone know the best option? Add to the insurance for the year? get cover for the track day only? Any experience / thoughts welcome.
Anything else I need for the day, other than nerves of steel and large rear view mirrors?
Out of interest, what is a good Lap Time for a bog standard 111r elise around KH. Got to have something to dream about/aim for.

You're not allowed to time on trackdays
Concentrate on being smooth and the times come, don't try and drive faster, slower and more ragged you will be /Yoda
WRT your mate driving your car "crash it, you buy it" clause? Not sure if CCI will cover named drivers for track? One-off policy for one day will be the same as your annual renewal, most likely...

We drive each others cars, but if mine was damaged it would obviously be me that was driving it.

OK.
Have paid for the SIDC track day on the 18th. Cannot come quick enough.
Someone mentioned earlier a meet and drive down en mass from Aberdeen. Where and when?
For Info. Adding an additional driver (age 47 Policeman with squeeky clean licence and no claims in the past 30 yrs). Insurance for the year including use on track is a mere £55.61, in addition to the annual £380 premium. Through CCI.
Now need to get a blue flashing light from somewhere....

I use CCI and the only way I could get my dad covered for on track, was to name him on the policy for the year (no cost either). so named drivers are covered for the track cover too.martins wrote: Insurance is through CCI but the person coming along for the day is not on my insurance policy but will be driving. The one day only for the track was extortionate, and still applied the 10% excess in the event of a track claim.
My advice is its not worth the risk to be uninsured as its not necessarily you or him that will stuff it.........if someone else hits you, you are still "on yer own" with regards to repair.

Andy G. Edited post. Thank you.
Have decided to pay for the add driver so we will be covered.
Roll on the 18th.

Wanted to do my first track day in the Elise, but I'm picking up my Gran & Grandad from Edinburgh airport in the afternoon. It's the one thing I do for them all year and they're both well into the 80's, so I'll have to do it.
Will come and spectate in the morning though, will have the Mistubishi bus rather than the Elise though

Who's all heading down from Aberdeen?
Re: SIDC - Knockhill, Saturday 18th September 9-1pm
Meet at the shell station south of bridge of dee? What time is briefing? I will be there in the Elise if it's not p1shing down and if there is tread on the tyres! Otherwise I'l be in the mini. I'm bringing my friend Heather with me.
