There is a crack about around ½ of the circumference of the tyre where the tread joins the side wall, it’s about 1mm wide exposing the threads and doesn’t look good so I won’t be using the ZZR’s. As its only on the inside of the tyre it wasn’t noticeable when the wheel is on the car.

Just posting this in case any of the other ZZR users have a similar problem and are unaware, I would post pics but can’t get them to up load.

Think I’ll stick with 888’s in future.
I'm going to be changing my brake pads for this trip so I'll check my ZZRs for similar problems when the wheels are off. Just wondering if its possible to check the age of the tyres - could they have been lying around for years before being fitted? I have heard of some online companies selling tyres that were several years old at delivery. Wouldn't have thought so since I'm assuming you'd have got them direct from Avon.

Well think that's the car ready! Even managed to wash it (weight saving and to improve aerodynamics you understand!)

Just need to look out postcodes, paper work and charge the Gopro and good to go!

See you at the bar!!

Are you taking the Audi Robin? Can I ask what numbers it made on the dyno?

Quite like to have a little pax please :thumbsup

Pete as others have said best to order them before you go ideally, still plenty time! If not maybe go via Murray's?

Oh, and pit garage update. Murray have found all the bits - except the tubes (which can be reused) and she'll be ready tomorrow. Phew!

The tubes are no longer made.

Is there a plan for traveling down ?

I plan to leave Edinburgh at 2.30pm.
So, i'll be at Abington Services for 3.30 - 3.45pm approx.

Anyone else up for it ?

250BHP at 6K when the wheels would grip, but on Ricky's dyno, so no idea how close to reality that is. Car nearly working - I think I worked out what's wrong with it this weekend.

I have a spare S1 so will be taking that - all 118 BHP of it :-)

Pete, if you can be arsed to come back to Iddon Towers you are welcome to take the wheels off Egor and swap them for your spare rims - the tyres are nearly AD08 I think. Fitte them just before SpaZ but ended up not taking the car as it wasn't running right - it has sat here since - so probably in reasonable shape for the weekend.

Cheers,
Robin

...and mostly likely the same again in torque if not more! Was it a 225bhp engine? My old 1.8 turbo S3 210bhp made 250/250 after a Star Performance remap and I believe they say the 225 (BAM?) engine is better 8)

By the looks of the weather 118bhp will be perfect

Robin - that's really generous but I've just bought some more. (I've been cheerfully ignoring the fact that there is almost no tread left on the rears of my "track" wheels. Then I read BigD's post and got kicked into action.)

Although I think you are underestimating the RainSports I have on at the moment.

Can i claim some of the credit for you (nearly) fixing Egor as I was standing nearby whilst you were looking at it?
