I'm going to be changing my brake pads for this trip so I'll check my ZZRs for similar problems when the wheels are off. Just wondering if its possible to check the age of the tyres - could they have been lying around for years before being fitted? I have heard of some online companies selling tyres that were several years old at delivery. Wouldn't have thought so since I'm assuming you'd have got them direct from Avon.Kinger wrote:I was checking the brake pads etc ahead of the trip to Outlen and Cadwell, the brake pads look fine for the trip but afraid the ZZR’s were a cause for concern. There is a crack about around ½ of the circumference of the tyre where the tread joins the side wall, it’s about 1mm wide exposing the threads and doesn’t look good so I won’t be using the ZZR’s. As its only on the inside of the tyre it wasn’t noticeable when the wheel is on the car.
Just posting this in case any of the other ZZR users have a similar problem and are unaware, I would post pics but can’t get them to up load.
Think I’ll stick with 888’s in future.

Well think that's the car ready! Even managed to wash it (weight saving and to improve aerodynamics you understand!)
Just need to look out postcodes, paper work and charge the Gopro and good to go!
See you at the bar!!

Are you taking the Audi Robin? Can I ask what numbers it made on the dyno?robin wrote:Based on weather forecast I am not predicting refilling more than once at either track
Quite like to have a little pax please

Pete as others have said best to order them before you go ideally, still plenty time! If not maybe go via Murray's?pete wrote:Any idea if there will be anyone selling tyres there?

Oh, and pit garage update. Murray have found all the bits - except the tubes (which can be reused) and she'll be ready tomorrow. Phew!
The tubes are no longer made.

Two negatives make a positive but only in Scotland do two positives make a negative - 'Aye right.'

Re: End of year Double Header with LOT - Oulton & Cadwell
250BHP at 6K when the wheels would grip, but on Ricky's dyno, so no idea how close to reality that is. Car nearly working - I think I worked out what's wrong with it this weekend.Mike Scib wrote: Are you taking the Audi Robin? Can I ask what numbers it made on the dyno? ...
I have a spare S1 so will be taking that - all 118 BHP of it

Pete, if you can be arsed to come back to Iddon Towers you are welcome to take the wheels off Egor and swap them for your spare rims - the tyres are nearly AD08 I think. Fitte them just before SpaZ but ended up not taking the car as it wasn't running right - it has sat here since - so probably in reasonable shape for the weekend.
Cheers,
Robin

...and mostly likely the same again in torque if not more! Was it a 225bhp engine? My old 1.8 turbo S3 210bhp made 250/250 after a Star Performance remap and I believe they say the 225 (BAM?) engine is betterrobin wrote:250BHP at 6K when the wheels would grip, but on Ricky's dyno, so no idea how close to reality that is. By the looks of the weather 118bhp will be perfect

Re: End of year Double Header with LOT - Oulton & Cadwell
Robin - that's really generous but I've just bought some more. (I've been cheerfully ignoring the fact that there is almost no tread left on the rears of my "track" wheels. Then I read BigD's post and got kicked into action.)
Although I think you are underestimating the RainSports I have on at the moment.
Can i claim some of the credit for you (nearly) fixing Egor as I was standing nearby whilst you were looking at it?
