Ouch that's a big shunt! In my initial post last night I was going to say that the fastest thing on track was a Skyline. It obviously stops quick as well with the aid of some gravel/tyres and a bloody great embankment.

Thought the guys post was amusing 'My main feeling (apart from feeling severely skint ) is of relief - that car gave me nothing but trouble and I'm glad to see the back of it tbh... '

Helluva way to get rid of a car you don't like

ooft!!

Having now been blessed with all the talent and expertise reading last month's report of Metcalfe in his Zonda at Spa... would the thing to do there not have been to put her into a spin?

Gutted for Rog, glad he's ok to tell the tale...

think its easy to say that Greg.

If your pushing it and braking late for corners to find you then have no retardation, its not something that you plan for. From where he went off I've seen people end up on their roofs, and to hit the gravel trap sideways can result in the car flipping.

Sometimes you get lucky though :D as Tom and I found out when coming along the main straight at KH, and turning in to Duffus. I was driving toms car, and the pedal went straight to the floor with no warning as i braked for the corner. I was lucky that it was a quick corner that we were heading in to and toms car wasn't going 100+, but its still a good scare the first time it happens to you.

We went sideways through the next few bends as I tried to slow the car using engine braking and pumping the pedal, desperate for pressure to return, and we got round.

Got too feel gutted for Rog though. Trying to get a 4wd car in to a spin on a straight, might prove a bit of a challenge also :?: :?: Although Jamie and I saw a guy manage it at the sprint at Ingleston.

I totally disagree with that Mac. A track day should be exactly that and everyone should be able to go to any day at any track safe in the knowledge that the driving standards are roughly the same. If you want a race day, go and race or take part in the racing test days.

If they continue to call these types of events "Track Days", people like us will not be able to get insurance at Knockhill and people who are not regulars or can't pop along for a look beforehand will just not bother as it's too much of a risk.

That's your view and you are perfectly entitled to it. What I will say is that what ever you think about the driving and marshalling standards at Knockhill are now they are immeasurably better than they used to be (not sure if you were on track during this period) where it was common practice to overtake left or right and if you could do it under braking then that was fair enough too.

<tounge> you youngester should do a bit of research - this forum wouldn't exist if it wasn't for some shakey overtaking on the brakes </tounge>

I wouldn't take my car on track if it was common practice to outbrake people into corners. Not worth the risk of some twat locking up and smacking into the side of you.

It didn't feel bad doing it at the time, I did it too. It's only looking back that it seems a bit mad. It was a very effective way to get past the fast up the straight cars.

Some twat did lock up beside me going into macintyres, in a bmw mini. I had no idea he was there till I heard the noise. Got it on video somewhere.
