Yesterday, my client's project unravelled yet further and I now need to go on-site in London on Monday to ensure I mop up the mess before a couple of key events through the week.
The route I knocked out should still be a goodie, and the A90 closures don't need to be an issue for you at all. Just return to the M90 junction and carry on with signs for A720 City Bypass. Merge onto M9 then cut on right 2 lanes to go through Newbridge underpass, peel off for M8 EASTbound to Hermiston Gait and City Bypass.
Just accept that Bypass could be slow but it's the only way to reach the start of the A701 I'm afraid. Exit at Lothianburn, so at least you don't need to suffer the Sherrifhall Roundabout
Plan B if Edin appears gridlocked (big thing on at Ingliston too I think?) - nice wee rat runs I use a lot to stay off the A8 near Ingliston, M8 spur to bypass, etc:

Plan C - change your RV point with Clarkie and just go Perth - Stirling - Cumbernauld - M73 - M74, forget the A701 altogether but pick up the M74 "side-road" anywhere from here:

Also, that's the exit to drop into Cairn Lodge Services, very different to all other M-way services (Farm shop, family run etc - recommended as an alternative lunch stop!) -

Just watch, the side-road chops and changes a bit from there all the way to Carlisle so you need to keep an eye for B7076 / B7076 or it's very easy to land up in Dumfries, LOL!
