I was really suprised that this happened on your second lap out - as i would have hoped they'd have been building you up slowly.

Craig, that's horrific! Really sorry to hear you ended up with a damaged car - were you covered?
If you lost it into Duffus, sounds like lift-off oversteer. Probably easily done when the adrenaline's pumping and trying not to seem like you're 'not trying' in front of the instructor. Possibly a detraction of an instructed day - you may be made to go faster than you're comfortable with, leading to the inevitable subconscious involontury reaction? I had several of those down at North Weald... thank feck that was an airfield!!
It happens to us all mate, so don't let it put you off. Sod the respray, and use it as an excuse to get back on track as soon as - think Maverick after Goose has pegged it

...covered but with over a 2 grand excess, and Steve Walker just quoted £300 +VAt for a respray which I didn't think was too bad. That plus diffuser and grille and she'll be back right as rain

As Andy said, be glad it's just your pride that's fcuked!

ouch! sorry to hear about the off Craig, come to think of it was at that point on the track with an instructor I had my only scare where I felt the rear of the car get very light and probably because due to what greg was saying...
For vantage points, the exact same place I think is good.
I got this from there with my old compact:
