This is my first post here so as well as the blurb below I'd like to say hello to all here!

Knowing simon from the forum and chatting about track days with him earlier - he directed me here. I've been a Corrado G60 owner for the last 2 years and it has been a great road car - but I am now going through the stages of making it a lot more track ready. As I'm trying to find out what track days/events would be open to me - simon suggested asking about whats being discussed here. Mainly whether I could join the SIDC or Hot Marque days - or perhaps any others? Any help welcome...

Hi Leon

My uncle had his G60 at one of Brunty's (CE Motorsports) KH nights last year.

Hot Marques is meant to have a £10k min value limit, but i'm not aware of it ebing imposed. Not sure what SIDC's rules are in regards to that.

I dont think SIDC have rules on car types as long as its roadworthy and you abide by their etiquette, I'm sure John could confirm.

Although the hot marques has the 10k limit there are plenty of cars below that on track, provided its not a complete shed and again your driving standards are up to scratch no one will bother.

:welcome Leon BTW

I'll prob be booking up for this one.

Hello Leon, how's it going? You might remember me as a former VR6 owner

I sold the 'Teg last year to get a VX220 Turbo (bit outnumbered in here  ), mainly so I could do trackdays. I've booked on for the SIDC day, so happy to take you out for a few laps if you'd like :D I think you'd probably be OK on the SIDC days, I seem to remember JohnS suggesting that it wouldn't be a problem when I had my MR2, and it was just a 1K car... You might also try looking over at http://www.scottishcarclub.com/phpbb/ for a few more trackday listings.

Cheers,
Jamie

I've got no issues in people running older but well looked after cars on our days. After all, it's the behaviour of the person behind the wheel that counts the most.

A G60 should still be quite rapid I would have thought, so shouldn't present any issues at all.

Thanks a lot guys.

@JohnStewart: My G60 doesn't qualify as a 10k car - but it's a decent example so glad you're fine about that. Performance wise, I'm sure it's no evo eater but it'll be quick enough and handle good enough to have a total blast with it on track. I've been to knockhill on these days as a passenger a few times so appreciate the etiquette - I'd like my car totally untouched body wise!!

@jamie: hello there fella - your VR is still looking very well. A few laps would be excellent thanks! And glad you've got yourself tracking now - bet you're not looking back!

@rossybee: quality stuff - I'm sure I've seen your r400 last time I went - your face looked frozen but the grin was there ;)

This was mainly a feeler to see what was available - I'm about to rebuild the gearbox to fit a few bits and bobs so I don't think I'll make the day on 10th March, but hopefully soon after - I'll keep an eye on whats happening. And thanks again for the welcome and track offers :D
