Thanks Ross for the link and for joining me in the car for a few laps - it was a great 'ring-side seat' seeing all the cars in front of us spinning
Thanks Kenny for the pic of me driving Mac's car - top action shot and not even in my own car!
I think the next event should be in the snow - what do you think, John?

Well, had my first time out on Sat. Great fun. I was taking it well slow, so apologies to anyone who got stuck behind me on the bends.
I know I was taking it easy, but was actually surpirsed with all that rain that the car didn't feel like it was about to spin at any point.
Only scary moment was at the end of my first warm-up lap after the pit straight, when I didn't realise there was a big hilly twist coming right up, and I ended up almost on the grass.
It's certainly set me up for getting some tuition once the weather improves next year.

Its far easier to get the car to and past its limits at this time of year. Makes sideway action far easier

Jonathon, we've asked before and thet won't let us run in the snow

Something to do with safety if one car slides off and can't back get on track, then it's very likely to be collected by something else following on a short while afterwards.
it would be OK if only one or perhaps two cars were on track at a time, but it would be a *very* expensive track event in that format!

Scott, you're a braver man than me! Well done for doing your first trackday in conditions like that! I'm really glad I didn't end up signing-up for it . . . would have pooped my pants at the weather and chickened-out!

I think I probably found it easier than many more experienced folk, as they'd haveing been pushing harder, and potentially spinning, going off, crapping themselves, etc.
Because I had no previous experience I wasn't trying to push it, or beat anyone, or better my lap times, etc. so the weather didn't pose me a problem.

Great to see the consistency of organisation, attendance and behaviour at these SIDC events. Thumbs up to Mr Stewart once again - how many years is that now then John?! Just sorry I couldn't be there to watch the fun, we planned to drop in en route to Perth but time was against us (that's what happens when you have to mobilise a 15-month-old out the door in the morning!!!)
As for newbies in the rain, you will learn bucketloads more about the handling and general behaviour of your car in those conditions. And ironically it is much safer (*if* you are listening to what the car is telling you) because it lets go at such lower speeds than usual. I certainly learned masses from the few wet / damp trackdays I've done over the years.
And with Knockhill, you gotta kind of expect those conditions!

Out of the 10+ days at KH I've done this year, that was the only fully wet one.

Ditto - only Saturday, my 13th at KH this year, was fully wet - couple of showers otherwise. Astonishing - global warming hits KH?

Dunno about the warming part, it's still bloody freezing most of the time there

Think I have done 8 (in my own car) this year, had a few sessions that started off wet but dried up midway.
By far the wettest, I have ever done though, thankfully the standing water isnt as bad on the new surface.

the only bit of footage I got at the weekend was a video clip of the Ultima (sic) ragging down the straight. Imagine my surprise when i actually worked out that the silhouette behind it was N1 TUT getting a tow then passing it into Duffus!! You're a legend mate!
