Renault Sport Trackday @ KH - 23rd May

Hey guys,

I know there a few RS owners on here nowadays so thought I'd ask if anyone was thinking about doing the Renault sport trackday at knockhill on Monday the 23rd May?

A chap I work with is friends with Renault UK's PR manager and he mentioned that the Renault Sport trackdays he has been on have been amongst the best. They are usually fairly quiet, they let you try out the RS range on track and they also offer tuition.

The full day (9am-5pm) is £119 so it seems a fairly good deal to boot. Full details on KH's site:

Trying to wangle time of work to attend but I also need some new rubber as well as discs and pads so umming and ahhing a little but I thought I'd post it up for anyone who wasn't aware.

Hopefully might see some of you there if it all works out.

Thanks for posting Mark, I had only just spotted this on Cliosport earlier. Assuming my Clio is ready in time, I'll be up for this one, £119 for a full day seems a really good price!

Anyone go to this yesterday ? If so, what was KH like re wind, rivers across the track etc ? I have the track hired for this evening and hoping all will be OK

Hi, I went yesterday. The track was fine, wet initially then the wind dried it up. No issues wth standing water anywhere. We were using AD08's and there were others with A048's and 888R's who had no issues. One guy did hit the barriers and blamed it on the wind.....

Its the worst ive ever seen it at KH. Ive been soaked before at KH - the touring cars in 2007 or 2008 comes to mind but the tourential downpour combined with the wind yesterday was something else. When I was loading my car back on the trailer the rain was fooking sore pelting me.

A wall blew down near the gate, 2 trees down on the way down the road, the air fencing had blown away and was against the wire fencing at duffus, the power went off so they had to red flag it till they got the lights working on the generator, cones were blowing across the track , the big plastic blocks were blowing about in the pit lane, the seat hospitality unit was trying to take off and signs left attached to the seat cars were battering off the wings and doing major damage - every car I seen would need a new wing.

Still it was good fun. Went out 3 times in the R Sport cars and 3 times in my car.

First time I went out for a few laps when it was chucking it with rain but the car steamed up and I couldnt see at all so came back in. Rain stopped about 11 and it was good after that, just still really windy.

I really fancy a Renault track toy. Something cheap and track ready but road legal would be great. Any suggestions for forums I could look on? Or advice? Something like a 182 cup or even a normal 182 with uprated brakes, suspension and recaros.

205 Mi16/GTi6 would be my suggestion.

Certainly an option. My first track car was a 1.9 309gti and I've tracked a couple of 205s. For some reason, I fancy a Renault. Am I mad? Or should I go further off piste and try this?

Basically I want something front wheel drive that I can let novice friends drive on track. And that I can park on the street.

I'll be selling my 225 with Cup Pack in about 2mths (been told by the boss that I need to wait until we return from holidays).


Will possibly require a new CV joint before tracking though as it's starting to click (think the boot split & lost lubricant causing wear to the joint).
Has the Cup suspension & wheels, and has recent Brembo High Carbon drilled discs & EBC Yellow'R' pads.
Bought it from a guy in Inverness actually. Will be selling for a large chunk less than that Mini.
