AMP3 Charity Trackday 2008 - September 26th

Post by Andy G » Wed Jun 18, 2008 11:40 am

Hi Guys

After the success of last year, we're back with another Charity Trackday!

I'd like to start by thanking all those that took part in the 2007 event, Archos and Sony, and Diageo for helping us raise more than £5000 for Breast Cancer Awareness. Simply awesome!

This years trackday will benefit Marie Curie, the charity nominated by Katrina Hoy, and the one that Lawrence had asked all donations at his funeral to go to.

The £50 track fee is donated in its entirity to Marie Curie Cancer Care :thumbsup

Shug will be along in a moment to let you know how to pay your donation (track fee), but we are also adding another option this year.

In addition to this we thought we'd ask entrants to also set up "justgiving.com" sponsorship pages, to allow friends, family etc to also sponsor you in this event. (Shug will be have a guide on how to do this too :thumbsup ) You don't need to complete a specified amount of laps, but we thought it would be a great way to raise more funds.

The event is on from 3-5pm in the afternoon, but we'd like people to start arriving from 1.45 onwards, as there will be photo's etc to sort out.

Afterwards everyone is invited back to my house in Edinburgh for a Big BBQ, sponsored by AMP3. Food and some beer will be provided, but feel free to BYOB (knowing some of your drinking habits  ).

We charge will charge £10 entry to the BBQ, which will be donated entirely to charity, and will get you food & beer etc.

At the BBQ will will also be announcing the following prize winners;

Fundraiser of the day (i.e. the person that has raised the most sponsorship money) :D

Runner up fundraiser will win a photoshoot courtesy of D50 :thumbsup

Muppet of the day (surely too many to mention)

Spin of the day (could it be Mass??) :damnfunny

Worst bit of Elise Tat of the day (i believe DDTB is already heading the field)

The event as always is more about having fun, while remembering how lucky we are than anything esle :thumbsup

If you'd like to pop your name down, sign-up will be confirmed once your trackfee donation is recieved.

I'm hoping we'll have your support to make this an awesome day and to give back something to those that helped Lawrence in his time of need.

Andy

Okay folks - the page is here:

http://www.justgiving.com/AMP3Knockhill

£50 minimum donation for the trackday, additional £10 for the post-party. Again, this is important - 100% of this money goes to Marie Curie Cancer Care, all costs are covered by AMP3 and our suppliers. Knockhill have also been excellent so far with their assistance.

As Andy said, we're looking to make a massive amount this year, so to do that, we've decided to encourage all of the attendees to raise money themselves. How you do that is up to you, but we want the money!

The easiest way for you and us to keep track of personal sponsorship is to create a page on Justgiving.com. It's really easy to do, won't cost you anything and lets us verify amounts. We'll only accept a justgiving.com page, or payment of your sponsorship amount into the main AMP3Knockhill Justgiving.com page to qualify for the fundraising prize!

To set up an account - go to http://www.justgiving.com and click "Make your page" It'll take all of five minutes, you'll create an account with Justgiving and from that you can quickly create a standard page. Make sure the charity you select is Marie Curie Cancer Care (it's very clear when you enter this info) From there it'll give you a web address to hand out to people for donations - you can check on your progress at any time by signing into your account.

Any questions, PM me, or email my "shug AT advancedmp3players DOT co DOT uk" email address.

Get donating folks - numbers will be limited, so get in there quick 8)

Hope to make it along to this again, was my first TD last year (and only one to date) but will be a bit better prepared this time round after a few instruction days, and maybe another TD or 2 between now and 26th Sept.

I'll fling in a photoshoot as a prize too - to the runner up with the most amount of money raised towards this very worthwhile charity I will donate my time and cost to meet up with the owner at a time and place suitable to them to do some shots of their car.

Prize will be a framed pic of their car. Charity close to my heart. Well done guys.

:cheers

Many thanks, will be a great prize :thumbsup

Obviously people aren't just gonna give you money, so how about charging mates/family for pax laps of knockhill at the day, or get something that attendees can buy - proceeds to Marie Curie.

The more outrageous the idea, the better chance it has of catching the imagination - we really want to dwarf last years final tally, you've got plenty of time to get things organised, so let's see lots of lovely donations! 8)

thanks guys for the support.

I think the justgiving pages could really allow us to make a great contribution this year, with £10k being my unofficial target.

We managed £5k last year with next to no planning :thumbsup :cheers

I was thinking of charging £5 for passenger rides on my justgiving page but also doing something whereby the largest donation from my mates gets a shot of driving my car on track. Would need to restrict it to my close mates obviously as I don't want just anyone driving the car! But think this might help generate extra cash.

Would this be okay? Would they just need to come to the driver briefing?

Hey Dezzy

Should be fine - they'd be on as your second driver, but clearly any insurance cover/risk etc would be at your discretion. Great idea though!

I've set myself a personal target of £1k, and am 10% of the way there already  :thumbsup

Good luck.
