Quick Oil Question

Post by Bada Bing! » Thu Aug 23, 2007 4:47 pm

Couldn't find any 5W40 today at Halfords, so I went to the Toyota dealer and asked them what they put in the Celica 190. Man gives me 5L of 5W30 for £25 and I leave happy.

I've never bothered much with Oil types, mainly as finding exactly the right one for my cars has always been a pain in the arse. Will the Toyota stuff cause problems if I use it?

are you using the 5L for top ups or doing an entire oil change? It'll probably be fine, but you might find that the oil in an elise gets hotter than the equivelant toyota so the thicker 40 weight oil may be beneficial...

Cheers,

Just to top it up just now. It's above the minimum mark, but not by much. I see what you mean regarding the thickness.
