Brute force and likely 'knob damage'

or some have a small grub screw which when undone will allow easy removal. Keith

The gear knob just twisted off on mine - brute force - came off quite easily. The stupid plastic/rubber screw at the back of the consol is PITA - I ended up just ripping it out with pliers!
Are you getting the console retrimmed/painted?

Get a Baby Boa from Halfords. A lot less fuss than a wrench & Tea Towel and leaves no marks

Firstly - do you have an alloy knob or one that's half alloy and half leather?
If you have the latter - then under the little lotus badge on the top there's an allen screw which you undo first.
If you have an all alloy one then as above.

You need to unscrew the top (leather) half from the base before you take the bottom half off - should be easy to remove in two halves. Keith

Should come away in your hand once you've undone the secret allan bolt.
