Hi Guys - I need some advice... Just had the car for nearly a week and as gay as it may sound I want to improve the comfort and make the car less noisey! Where do I start?

Any ideas of a good exhaust that doesnt wake up the neighbours?

Hard top is squeaking all the time? - any solution? vaseline?

How do I make the ride more comfortable? ( i know i know but i want to use the car everyday)

overall reduction of noise?

I think all available comfort features were installed on the 111s as standard!

The standard exhaust will be plenty quiet - yours might have an aftermarket exhaust fitted, perhaps? I am sure if you trawl the classifieds (here, pistonheads, seloc, norlog,...) you'll find someone selling of a standard S2 111s backbox for pennies.

Has your car got standard suspension (jack it up and take a reasonable picture of the whole damper/spring assembly on one wheel and post it here if you don't know). The 111s should have soft ride (relatively).

I recall that my standard exhaust made the car sound like a milk float so I guess that would be a good place to start. Dont think I was even able to give it away when I changed so I am sure there will be standard ones laying around.

I could lend you my Elise for a week. By the time you get yours back it will feel quiet, refined and strangely more comfortable

Buy a BMW?

Not sure what you want - most folk find the 111s far too civilised off the bat. Suspension is lovely and soft (as standard), plenty of deadening and if you can hear the exhaust, it can't be the standard one.

You sure it's the car you actually wanted?

Edited: I see from your newbie post, you've got a Hurricaine and a Sports Exhaust on it. First thing to do would be put the standard airbox with a panel filter back in it and go back to the standard exhaust - somebody on here will have those to sell you from upgrades.

I have a standard airbox and exhaust off my 111S that you could have.

Don't put vaseline on the hardtop seals, it's bad for rubber.
To stop the hardtop squeaking, undo all 4 bolts, lift it off, place it in it's bag and store for when you sell the car

Silicone lube (for windows & stuff) is a better bet.

i m not very technical so i will get a photo of the suspension and post it asap...

If the dampers are yellow and have a Bilstein sticker on them they're pretty likely to be the standard S2 dampers so the springs will likely be standard too. If not and you have nitrons I want first shout on them if you sell them
