Alternator Belt squealing

not 100%, but fairly sure. Squeals pretty badly on start-up, and like a bitch when it's warm (to the point that it won't stop until given plenty of gas)....

robin mentioned that one of the two bolts has probably sheared allowing it to shift slightly and slacken the belt. how easy is this bolt to replace (ie how much of the car do I have to take off to replace it)????

also, a space to do the job would be muchly appreciated (ahem...robin or andy??  )

My garages are full - however, I am going to have a garage tidy (was to be this afternoon, but I need to postpone until tomorrow morning) ... so if you can drag yourself over here on Sunday morning for 09:00-ish then you can (a) help me tidy the garage and (b) we can see if the bolt is broken.

If the bolt is broken you need a right/angle chuck on a reversible drill and an easy out, or tack weld a bit of welding rod onto the bolt to pull it out. Or remove the engine (I am not kidding).

Cheers,
Robin

so the answer is take most of the back of the car off

do you have:
a right/angle chuck on a reversible drill and an easy out, or tack weld a bit of welding rod onto the bolt to pull it out
will see you at 9 ish then :D although lets face it, it'll prob be 9.15.....

cheers :D

LOl.

Tom - we'll need to see what's up before worrying about which WMD to apply to the problem. I have a fair arsenal now so might be able to help if it comes to it ...

See you both tomorrow morning then - I only have until noon then I need to make lunch and entertain the other kids for the afternoon :-)

Cheers,
Robin

Not sure if Robin has wedding equipment, but that cure works fine, as does the right angled chuck, though I have not tried that.
