Inner Wheel Arch flapping all over the place.

Post by james » Fri Jun 29, 2007 8:07 am

My car has had a fair bit of front inner arch action recently what with the new rad and the clam being off twice.

The other day I arrived home to find that the inner arch had fallen onto the tyre and had been rubbing. This was AFTER the tyres had been replaced 2 days before. So I was annoyed that the tyre was slightly damaged.

The inner arch is worn away in several places. I screwed it back on with some new fixing points but it will need a whole new arch.

Is this a common problem on Elises?

It looks like I need to remove a fair bit of stuff from inside the inspection cover by the washer bottle.

Anyone know how much one costs? I'll call MMC but I suspect its not cheap.

Why couldt this happen before the new tyres were fitted and why is it connected using useless plastic screws?

S2s tend to eat them a bit. If it's out of the way and not too flappy, then I would leave it TBH.

Theres a big hole where quite a bit of it used to be. I would think this will mean lots of water up near the washer bottle and theres some important looking electrical bits up in there.

Get a new one and a complete set of fasteners ... if the work was carried out by a reputable garage they should stump up as they clearly didn't refit the liner properly (unless of course it was hanging off in the first place).

For the record.

New inner arch NSF is roughly £35 from MMC inc VAT
Part number C117B0149F

If anyone else needs one and is searching for this.
