Should start off by saying that its getting Mobil fully synthetic on change due to oil loss....

but has anyone any thoughts ( apart from :flame ) about additives such as slick 50 etc.....

Ive used them in other cars in the past including Saab 9K Aeros with 300+bhp with no problems at all.......

Any thoughts........

Wynns Stop leak worked on the Porka....

I wouldn't bother TBH, fully synth is very thin anyway so will highlight any leaks!

Or try a different oil.

I've been using Silkolene Pro R 15/50 now for a couple of years and really like it - plus it's bright red 8)

Works out to a similar price to Mobil one, maybe a bit cheaper as it comes in 5Ls.

Also available at the link below ;)

I always feel that adding additives is a fairly in-exact science :? . We need to add lead substitute to 98RON fuel for the healey, and I always feel it is a bit of an approximate measure. Having said that, it makes a big difference to how the healey runs  :drive... although it is no Elise!

http://skepdic.com/slick50.html

Read an ace thing ina US car mag years ago where they took two old cars, treated one with somehting that claimed to be a engine friction reducer (wasn't slick 50 but was simialr) and tried to do what the ads talked about, ie ran it with no oil. Obviously it died almoist instantaneously. Hilarious. They did it side by side with one without the friction reducer, there were tenths of a second in it.
