Scottish Elises

I spotted some of you guys get an oil change every 4.5k miles. I'm at 4.3k and just deciding whether to get the elise serviced before or after TT2007. Oil is still clean and has only required small top ups now and again. Answers on a postcard pls

Change the oil only. Do it yourself

If the oil is still clean and you haven't done many track hours, leave it until the 9K standard service interval.

Once it goes black after track use it's nice to change it as burnt oil doesn't work so well, but until then, no need.

If you're doing the KH session, four hours will make it black, so best change afterwards ... best not do it in the paddock though or you won't be popular

Fort Bill Oil changes it is then for TT07

Didn't realise I should be changing after trackdays like that. Oops.

Didn't change my oil after the Teesside trackday. Guess I should change after the TT trackday then, so I'm up for the Fort Bill oil change party! Never done it before, so would appreciate a hand!

not sure Robin meant to do it in Fort Bill....more likely to get it done after the weekend.

RLC has done the LOTRDC and KH and is now looking like being due a change shortly, but I've kicked the ass out of it

Never did it on the exige, but changed it last week on the elise, and it was about 30yams all in for the oil, the filter and the washer.

The old stuff was like tar, so definately worth doing occasionally and the engine "seems " to tick over quieter now.

That'll be the tappets getting oil then!

I was told off for not changing my oil last service, apparently it was like crude oil...

me and Stephen are going to change oil before TT07 comes along.

As JJ says, doesnt take much to do (effort and monies), but the TT07 weekend knocks the hell out of the wee cars as it is so probably best to make sure its tip top

If it's anything like last year I was getting a top end rattle as the oil was getting so hot and thin.

Went for a higher second number this year so fingers crossed.

Mine is 15/50, so it rattles like f**k when cold, smoothes out nicely when warmed through and I don't worry about sump temps (even though I've got a cooler now)

But previously you were changing the oil with the "Blue Smoke oil change system"

The landrover is busy "changing" it's transmission fluid on the garage floor (N/S steering joint to be precise) and the porsche is gently "changing" it's coolant on the carpark outside...

Might want some antifreeze soon

The wild dag pack is now down to 2, one has gone to the great kennel in the sky (he was 18 years old though) but my bro has just bought a loopy mogrel to bolster the numbers when required.

Neither do any of mine (now)
