I understand the tracking needs re done.

Can someone give me a low down on a list of what actualy needs done next, to make sure the car drives in a straight line and doesn't eat tyres ! Ie geo etc.

cheers

You only *need* to adjust the front toe, provided you were happy with all the other settings on the car previously (or, provided it drove OK and didn't eat tyres, if you prefer).

The front toe adjustment is simple enough and can even be done DIY if you have the patience to set up the required reference lines with bits of string or straight metal bars.

Getting the front toe set on an elise sometimes results in a squint steering wheel. That can be because the geo was already out and you need a slight steering input to keep the car straight, or it can be because whoever set it, didn't set it with the wheel exactly straight. It's best to get the front toe set with you sitting in the car and holding the wheel "straight".

The correct front toe setting is in your owner's manual.

Cheers,
Robin

[edit - oh and I suppose it makes sense to at least measure the rear toe at the same time - both toe settings should balance side-to-side, otherwise you will get a squint steering wheel].

I'm thinking of bumping it into Kenny Browns in Hillington, anyone had any experience of them ???

I'm sure I've heard the name being banded about previously.

Yes, Kenny Brown has been recommended on several occasions - he rebuilt my steering rack for me, as well doing other work on Kelvin's IIRC.

I assume his location works for you? I seem to remember Kelvin had a bit of bother getting his car there and back.

Cheers,
Robin

Yeah location is ideal, it is parked up in Renfrew a 5/10min drive away.

My mechanic mate/family member served his time with Kenny, back in the day when Kenny part owned eagle rally in johnstone many years ago so there's a good tie in there also.
