Questions questions

Post by bertieduff » Wed Apr 04, 2007 5:59 pm

Ahh, the sun is shining and I'm feeling optimistic. 8)

Need a replacement front damper and thinking of attempting this myself...is there much to it? Do I need to do both? Am i just flattering my dubious technical abilities?

As I run on OZ's/48's some of the time I know I should really upgrade, but is this just a waste of money until I finally make it to track?

Second thing...my cill covers are really scuffy and take the look off the interior....anyone else find this, and any (sensible :D ) suggestions how to fix?
You can get replacements (think about £60 a side) but assuming that they'll just do the same after a few months....

Thirdly..back to the subject of hurricanes and oiling them.....didn't do this when it was fitted- no reference to it in the fitting instructions.....was this an omission?

Lotsa questions

Damper swap = easy peasy and this is me talking!

Two 17 mm spanners IIRC, just undo top bolt and bottom bolt (lots of WD if they are a bit cruddy looking), fitting is reversal of removal and pay attention to which way round the special washers were fitted ;-)

But do try to swap a pair if you can, unless it's just a temporary fix.

John Reid knows a guy that re-trims, not sure what he charges for sill covers though. What colour are they? If black, give em a go with some boot polish? Can't say I notice what nick mine are in.

Hurricane, all you need do is buy K&N air filter oil from halfrfauds, give the foam filter part a wash, and then re-oil. Use copius amounts, as IIRC its the oil that filters, with the foam there to hold the oil.

You want to use the prescribed amount - as Greg rightly points out the oil traps the dust particles but too much oil and it can be drawn through into the airstream.
