Recovering bits.... how do you get them off...

One of the other posts prompted me to ask...

Is it relativly easy to get the dash tops off on an S1. The manual makes it look simple but is there anyone who has any tips they can give. I had a quick butchers at it before but there is nothing obvious to see that you remove.....

By 'dashtop' do you mean the curved gray metal piece that runs along the front leading edge of the dash? With the Elise sticker on it?

Easy to get off. Harder to put back on - especially if the interference fit metal clips on the back ping off and fall down the holes and into the sills :roll:

Seriously though, a pretty easy job but like I said, stuff a rag down the hole before refitting... :wink:

That the bit...

I am sending my wheel away to get recovered, was planning to get those bits and the steering housing done in black alcantara as well.

Lever out the plastic front panels and remove the stereo - that'll give you access to three (four?) grub screws under the leading edge. Unscrew them and the hole thing should slide forward and out. Pretty obvious once you start.
