S2 dampers for S1 question

Post by campbell » Tue Mar 13, 2007 11:17 am

Simon kindly put the following into Classifieds (which is now locked for replies sadly, so new thread here I'm afraid)

http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... php?t=6424

Question is...

...what ride height results on the S1 if you fit the full standard set of these? My understanding is SteveB supplies VX220 front springs in some cases, to provide a certain combo of ride height, IIRC.

And presumably one needs to source the adapted mount brackets...any ideas of cost?

I am tempted to lob a bid into this.

Just look at his other items and you'll find the car they're off

:thumbsup

anyway, even if they'd done 50k they'd probably still be better than the original S1 konis

I mailed the seller, and here is what he said...

"The car has covered 11500 miles, standard spring rate. Car had light acident damage to front clam shell. Cheers, Chris"

(though this should be viewable in the eBay listing I think).

Both myself, and more importantly bruv in law Ian, are moving into the market for S2 damper kits, hence my interest. But neither of us is desperate to buy just now so I'm happy to watch the general action...hence good luck wishes to Woody!

I have S2 with VX front springs if you want to have a looky, think there was mounting brackets to go with it. Will get some pics if I get my wheels off tonight, oo-er.

campbell - email SteveB if you have any queries. I have (as you know) just bought dampers and fitting kit separately. Steve offers various ride heights, and I went for 110/120. The springs will be staying as standard on that setup. For lower, I'm not sure what you'll need but Steve is the man to ask.

If lowering, bear in mind you'll need rack riser plates as bump steer is affected - steve threw those in f.o.c, so can't commend his service and support enough.

forgot to add - £55 all in for front and rear brackets, incl postage and steering rack riser shims. Geary charges £59, unsure if that includes delivery
