went to take my elise out today for first time in months, battery was totally dead, removed old battery which was a bit awkward, wanting to change it for a decent battery, and also is there any slimmer batterys that would be easier to fit i could use?

For MOT reasons you need to have a battery that fits and is secured properly.

There are slimmer batteries you could use - e.g. the red ones that a lot of race cars use, but these have even lower capacity than the one you have.

I think Campbell recently got an 063 battery for ~30 quid and it was easy enough to fit, albeit that there were two of us, so one could hold the gubbins out the way while the other one dropped in the battery :-)

Halfrauds were doing 20% off on batteries last week, I think mine was about £50 and took 10-15 mins to fit.

Hunters of Linlithgow supplied mine at £27.50 inc VAT, they would have fitted it for no extra charge if I'd let them. Only reason I didn't is they haven't worked on my Elise before, and I didn't have time to go and stand over them while they did it during the day.

If I did have the time, I probably would have let them try...and then maybe I'd let them do more in the future (once I'd established they knew where to jack the car up and the like!)

Great value though.

Yes, though if they get the jack out to fit the battery, you probably can cross them off your list of suitable elise workshops ;-)

Er, quite!

The jack test is just the basic entry requirement to the school of Elise maintenance though ;-)

The other one is to ask "Where is the spare wheel?"... any hesitation = leave immediately

;-)

20% off... I should think so!
Halfrauds wanted £75 for a battery for the TSE Bimmer... got one for £25 from my local garage. I kno Liz batt is smaller than Bimmer, but beware.
