Hurricane oil
Hurricane oil
Just ordered a Hurricane from Eliseparts. Does the oil / cleaning fluid come with it or do I need to buy that separately?

Thanks Simon. Just ordered the stuff off Eliseparts . . . should have really ordered it at same time as the hurricane! Doh!
Another question for you . . .
I read a post by you saying that you need to make sure the rubber hose doesn't rub against the fuel pipes. Do you know if this is the same for the toyota engine? Do I need some cable ties or something? Is this mentioned in the fitting instructions that come with it?
Remember I have no mechanical skills whatsoever!

Cheers guys. The only problem is, I don't really know what the things are that it shouldn't be touching. Time to start reading the service manual methinks. Might call on the assistance of someone nearby to help with fitting if I'm not sure about anything.

Fuel lines should be clamped/clipped to a few things, nothing should be rubbing together at all. Basically anything that is clamped is fine anything that is touching but not clamped is generally bad.

Have recently bought and fitted one. Really is fine, once you get going. I too had no experience of working on anything mechanical.dezzy wrote:Cheers guys. The instructions and all parts for fitting, including cable ties, are included and if you follow the recipe, things are straight forward.
However, I have just changed the path of the ducting on mine after seeing someone else's and becoming paranoid about the ducting touching the fuel lines. This shortened ducting will reduce dead space and resistance in the passage of air into the throttle body, but I doubt it really makes that much difference. However, it is MUCH louder than with the longer ducting, especially on full throttle.
Is it a toyota or K-series you have? I have fitted mine to a K-series and can give advice about shortening the ducting pipe and avoiding any fuel line contact.
Just read that you have a 2005 111R - toyota then.
Not sure how they compare, but I will upload a photo of mine fitted, with the alternate ducting path.

Btw, dunno about anyone else, but when fitting this the amount of rust on the roll-bar diag. bracing was shocking...must get some hammerite.
I have noticed that every steel component on the car seems to have british-leyland style rust protection.

The oil is the most important bit.
Seriously, the metal and cotton of the filter is just there to hold the oil in place. The oil is what does the filtering and dirt collection. You will be getting dirt through the cotton if its not oiled which is seriously bad for your engine.
Get the filter off, cleaned and oiled and cross your fingers.
