Honda gear oil

Guys the manual says I need Honda MTF. Went to halfords today and they dont have an equivelent. Need castrol smx-s and they didnt have in stock. Does anyone know of an equivelent that can be preferably had from dingbros? I thought all manual gear oils were pretty much the same but am being told different. Only reason is theres not a honda dealer near me and could be a few days before i get a chance to go to one. Thanks Craig.
PS Got my wishbones back from being shot blasted and painted (red) and they look great. Well chuft. All I need now is the exhaust from jim.

i have 2 or 3 L of castrol smx-s that i got from Halfords. I can stick it in the post for you if your stuck.
I have no idea if this is enough for you or not though.
no idea where you can get it up in ABZ.

John has filled/replaced mine at least twice now, but do not know what he used.
Maybe I should start again from scratch.

Its ok neil, ill maybe just get halfords to get in, thanks for the offer though. Tut yours is drained also so youll be starting from scratch same as me. Got pics of the exhaust from jim tonight and its looking really good ill send them on to you.

If you can get the standard stuff from the dealer, I think its been asked a few times on CTRO as to what gear oil to upgrade to and the usual answer is dont. Stick to the standard stuff.
As above try opieoils if you cant get to a dealer.
Worth phoning Phoenix Honda in Stirling and speak to John Thomson (service manager) to see if they would post it out to you. Tell him you got his name from Kenny at TRS, John has gone out of his way to help several of us in the past.

Jolly good. Presume then that he did not turn up on Sunday?
Got the second wheel bearing last night, so just off to Johns to get them pressed in.
Is that van yours? Would be useful for getting the clam shells etc round to you.

Got oil from aberdeen honda today, only cost 20 quid so wasnt worth messin around. Tut the van is mine but its got seats and units cause its a converted camper. Dont know if it will take a calm but can try.

Also tut, are you planning on spraying thecar with clams on or off?

As per phone call, I think probably on. The rear clam is Titanium, so will check my old one to see if it is blue inside. If so may need to give the rear inside a coat first.
The front clam, drivers door, and roll over cover are all azure blue, so no prob.
Got the rear hubs back today with new bearings pressed in, so will bring them over tomorrow.
