Is there an alt. brake pad to suit the MMC discs on a S1 Elise ???

You should be replacing the entire rear set at once, that's why they come like that!

I wasn't meaning I wouldn't replace the full set I mean it is only one pad that's away unlike any other time when all 4 are worn and needing done.

ps That however was not an answer.

There is NO alternative to a genuine MMC pad for an MMC disk. Anything else will not work, and will destroy your disk.

Phew, but doesn't that suggest there's something up with your brakes then? :?

It is strange that only one of the pads needs changed, usually the inner pair. Have you checked the surface of the disk? It should have a glossy finnish with a laquer on it. With mine I overheated a disk and the inner suface turned to lots of tiny pits. These pits then act like a grater to the pad. If you search on seloc youll get an explanation as to how the aluminium melts around the ceramic. Also people say you wont melt these disks on a standard car but thats not true, granted you wont get catastrophic failure like tut had but you will get pitting. Hope its not this but thought youd better know the full story.

PS: My disk melted braking from 120 to zero in only eighty yards, when those disks worked they were amazing!!

Folks, the reason he only needs 1 pad is explained in here:

One of his pads failed, and the friction material came away from the backplate
