Brake Disc Problems

Post by Wacky Racer » Tue Dec 26, 2006 7:33 pm

Hi all,

I'ved owned my s2 for about 3months now and it's become apparent that the brakes are fecked. On closer inspection the front dics are heavily scored. Could this be due to the car being fitted with GREEN STUFF??

Can anyone recomend a good disc and pad setup and where to get them from?

Never had any problems with the greens scoring my discs so I don't see why it would be that. Look on Eliseparts for discs and for pads, either go for SBS Pro Track which is what I have or with Pagids (42s I think).

its not due to the type of pad, plenty of people run them with no issues like you describe.

It could be:

1. your not used to elise unservo'd brakes
2. the previous owner overheated the discs
3. there has been stones trapped between disc and pad
4. the previous owner changed pads when they got down to the metal

etc etc etc

loadsa reasons. If you can post a photo of the disc it might help.

P.S dont go changing them until you have worked out whats wrong or you could waste a lot of money.

I find the standard cross drilled disks can corrode at the cross drillings which grooves the disk. I've just put on some EBC Turbogrooves and Pagid RS4-2 on the Exige.

Should be ready for a new owner...
