Turning off the heating ?

Post by Julien » Tue Aug 19, 2025 11:21 am

Hello,

We're going on a road trip to the south of España at the beginning of September, and I'm wondering if we can turn off the heating, because even on cold, hot air ends up coming through the air ducts, and the whole space under the dashboard is very hot.

From what I understand from the diagram, hot water circulates constantly in the heating circuit.
Has anyone tried installing a valve on this circuit ?

:cheers

I wouldn't mess with it but it might be worth checking that the levers / cables are correctly operating the diverter flaps.
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

And I always reckoned that a lot of the heat soak into the cabin comes from the main coolant pipes in the sills (i.e. the ones to/from the radiator) - so there might be limited benefit anyway

Also through the bulkhead behind the seats and heat is also drawn forward if you have the roof off.
