This may sound like a stupid question, but I'm about to order a new passenger side front indicator unit from Elise Shop.
They advertise them as Left hand or Right hand, but is that when facing the car or when sitting in it?
My guess would be that I need a Left hand unit, but the picture's pretty misleading as it show them the other way round
This is the page I'm looking at:
http://www.elise-shop.com/lighting-c-7. ... 715d96eee4
(Scroll down to Lamp-Front Indicator).
ETA looks like I had the wrong link. Sorted now.

Left or "near side".

Took me long enough to figure out what was off side and near side. I now remember that the off side is the side of the car that the driver gets off, and near side is the side nearest the kurb. I use to think that near side was the side that you passed near to other cars, and off side was the side you would pull off if stopping.

It took me long enough to figure out near side and off side - but as Elise Shop is a Dutch company (I think) , that would be even more confusing.
So left it is.
Fingers crossed.
PS - sorted the link.

Their named after the direction you're turning ... so the LH unit is the left turn indicator and the RH unit is the right turn indicator.
For a RHD car, the pax is the left seat, so you've ordered the correct unit.
Cheers,
Robin

Now that makes sense. Cheers Robin.
These are the side indicators. It's the front one I need (unfortunately). Quite a price difference.

Duggie,
Is the front indicator broken or just loose?
One of mine is loose after the drive to the DC museum, I was reading that the retaining clips break and the indicator can come out and damage the bodywork!

Cheers, Mark
PS: it appears they now have a UK office

Yep, happened to my old Elise on the M9. It popped out completely without warning and started dancing around the front of the clam as still connected by the electrical wires. A few minor marks to paintwork that easily polished out. But the rubber seal that goes around the unit went flying off into the verge somewhere never to be seen again, so if it's loose, worth replacing the clips before this happens.

I experienced exactly the same, also on the M9, with the right indicator. The plastic clips tend to be brittle and will eventually snap. Thankfully the right indicator styed attached by the wires so I could silicon it back in place. This time though the whole unit took off over the roof an hit the tarmac at 70mph. Apart from there being nowhere safe to pull over, I don't expect it would have been salvageable.
Just had an email from Elise Shop to say they are on back order from Lotus and can't say when they'll be in stock
If anyone's got a spare kicking about, I'd happily make you an offer for it.

Nope, that's for the side of the car, and AFAIK is not side specific. What Dougie is after is for the front of the car
