The first in what might be a short series.
The Pax wing mirror rattles, the glass moves around in teh frame and it is very annoying so this morning, read up how it comes apart (gentle prising is required apparently).
Bezel off with glass still attached. Took glass out and cleaned it all but, when re-assembled it still rattled.
Hmm.
A small sticker of something inside the bezel should take up the slack, so a short length of velcro is stuck to it adn the glass is forced back in. And breaks.
Right new glass mirror ordered.

I have such a low level of mechanical ability it's wonder I manage to perform simple tasks, like operate door handles.

The 2 pegs which hold it onto the door broke off mine (S1) after some clown bashed it in the carpark.
Rather than buying the whole mirror (and then still having to paint it anyway) i bought a rover one for pennies.
There are some minor differences to the 'main' frame, its slightly thicker. But the glass, door mount and bezel is the same.
You can rob the guts from one to build another to do away with the adjusting lever or electric adjustment. You could get one with the heated glass and run that as a mod if you really wanted.
You might not be interested, but it might help.

I have bought TWO replacement pieces of glass from the first google hit. It might be the wrong ones.
The driver's one is also broken but it was like that when I bought the car, being informed by the previous owner that it was not a crack but "authentic patina" that gave the car provenance.

There are different mirrors that appear to be the same/similar. I discovered this when I gave Donkey an MG TF 160 mirror unit that turned out to have the ability to be repositioned by means of electricity.

I think anyone who knows me, knows I haven't got a clue what an authentic patina is, but it sounds itchy and you should probably see a doctor about it

Money say the PO knew about the issue fudged it with some gaffa tape and sold it on quickly..... cannae trust these honest john types

I was very honest about everything that was wrong with it and the car was priced accordingly. He even bought a second car from me.
