Re: New Trackday Tyres
Ronnie at Wheels Around recons our sizes ( for V6) won't be available until early next year, I'm going to get a set of the original 888's for the Frolic.C7Steve wrote:I wonder what these tyres will be like?

Re: New Trackday Tyres
How much for set of 888s compared to ZZRs?

Re: New Trackday Tyres
Ronnie was around £800 for the 888's, can't remember exact the price he told me at SIDC day.
Only issue is the fronts don't come in the correct size/profile. Should be 205/45 x17. last time i got 205/40 x17 but this lowers the nose by 8mm. Other alternative is 215/45 x17 but these lift the nose by 4mm
I'll probably stick with what I had for the last Frolic.

Eh? Are you being serious.Kinger wrote: but this lowers the nose by 8mm. Other alternative is 215/45 x17 but these lift the nose by 4mm.
How can a slightly wider tyre make your car higher by 4mm anyway.
Re: New Trackday Tyres
The profile (40 in this case) is a % of the width of the tyre. So 40% of a narrower tyre will mean a lower profile, which will lower the car's ride height, albeit by a small margin. Or, a 45% profile will be higher - allowing more air to pass under the car, and also marginally decreasing the directness of the steering inputs due to the higher profile.
The narrower the front tyre, the more understeer / less oversteer you will get. Also, if you alter the ride height at one end of the car, it will effect the air flow under the car, which will in turn effect the handling. Although any of these issues alone will make little noticeable difference, collectively they might be enough to make the car feel a bit different. IMHO.

No F1 car, but Kinger does not hang about.Daveb wrote:Do you have a F1 car or something?
As long as my car clears the ferry and the tyres last the Frolic then I will be happy. I might even try and keep up with Mr Kinger too.

Re: New Trackday Tyres
Yep pretty straightforward, 5% of 215mm is approx 10mm or 5mm per side.Dominic wrote:The profile (40 in this case) is a % of the width of the tyre. Re: New Trackday Tyres
Rumour has it that you would not wish to raise the front of a car relative to the back, for aero stability reasons.
Lowering is always good obviously [slammed faction]

Re: New Trackday Tyres
10mm rake front to back has been the setup rule I've always worked too for the S1. Think I got that from the learned folks on here early in Elise ownership.
What's the factory rake on the V6?

Re: New Trackday Tyres
If it were me I would go with Pirelli Pzero Corse for Frolic. Had them on the R8 for Spazz and lasted well. Good grip and are standard fitment on the Exige. I got a full set for the R8 for £1k so likely be quite a bit cheaper for the Exige as they aren't anywhere as big/wide.
Tawse tyres in Inverurie are you friend, cheapest in the country for Pzero Corse fitted
Just hope they can get Trofeo's for the cup.
Just checked and camskills have fronts for £108 ea and rears for £137.8 ea
