Yep AFAIK, the AD08 only comes in a 205R16 size.

I have the AD07's on the front and AD08's on the rear and there are no issues whatsoever, they work well together. AD07 fronts are pretty cheap too.
Ronnie at wheelsaround is probably your best bet.

According to Yokohamas website
The 195/50/16 is not made in an AD08r
Nearest is a 205/45/16
But will that fit on a rim that's currently got a 175/55/16?

Not advisable.
There's a website in France that sells the correct AD07 cheaply, I'd imagine especially so just now with the exchange rate. Think it's pneus-online or similar (S1 owner so never took a note).

Yoko's size chart lists this tyre will fit on the S2 rims. It's not too big, but is on the limit for the 16x5.5 S2 front. Yoko rate the fitment between 5.5 and 7.5
EDIT TO ADD: The above is true for the 205/55/R16 tyre as the 205/45/R16 is indeed the wrong size for the std rims

I suppose the concern there would be the 55 aspect ratio with the larger width... may cause issues as you've then a wider & larger diameter overall tyre?
Shpould just buy an S1, can't go wrong. Tyre sizes can't anyway. The car will.

Yep, you do gain a bit of sidewall height for sure. Brooke Kensington list these AD08's for the S2 though, so I'm guessing other folk must be using them....

They're listed for the S2 as they are fine on wider front rims like the Exige wheels or sport pack forged wheels which are 6J.
You can't run a 205/45/16 on a 5.5J wheel though.
I'd stick to AD07s from pnues-online for the front and AD08 on the back. (Or buy new wheels)

i ended up as above as well, sorry missed this thread...
according to yokohama site they only produce A048s in 195/50/16s. AD07/AD08 variants all start at 205 with the exception of the 175s which as far as i gather from tyre suppliers are only sold to lotus dealers.

Camskill are selling both the AD08 and AD08Rs. £10 difference in price but what's the difference in terms of the actual tyre?

Coincidentally I was just pricing those exact tyres on camskill too. I couldn't see the ad08 in the front size though and the ad08r was only in the 215/45/16 which is probably the ideal size to keep the same diameter. Would need a wider front wheel on S2 elises though.
I think the R is just newer technology so obviously better. Not sure I'd notice the difference. Set of 4 are £450 which is very reasonable.

I was only looking at rears.......
I'm guessing these are standard Yokohama tyres; there is no special LTS fitment for the AD08Rs like you get with the AD07s or A048s?

Yeh haven't seen LTS on ad08's. I have them on the rear of mine. Ad08r's that is and they are a great tyre. Again I doubt I'd notice any difference between LTS and non. Still 5mm tread left after 3 dry track days and they were very good on cold wet roads too.
