Scottish Elises

any recommendations? Usually use a mate in Stonehaven for the daily wagens but want to keep the elise shiney. Was hoping to do it at Murrays but the tyres are right on the limit.

Choices are order here and get fitted somewhere, used tyredevotion before who were OK but he stopped fitting tyres brands i wanted to use. Otherwise I have no idea, any suggestions?

also... whilst on topic, do i keep with the standard tyre sizes or is there any advantage in upping the front tyre width? was contemplating going up 10-20mm wider and have the geo done.

If you're still running the original 175 size, sure, I'd go for a 195 at the front and a geo setup. Will give the car a much more positive feel and dial out much of the understeer present in the standard S2 setup.

This place every time for me for tyres! I've used them for fitting my tyres for the last 6-7 years with no problems with me supplying my own rubber too.

Spoke to Norma at Tyre devotion (he can get me AD08s at a good rpice fitted in my drive) NB tyres are totally shot... so driving any distance is out of the question.
But he can not get 195 for the front but can get 205... is that a step to far? Any issues with tyre rub / too big for rims etc? I have gone up 10mm in widths with previous cars but dont want to get this one wrong...

I've never tried a 205 on the front, but I have certainly heard of people who have fitted them. The 205/55 AD08 is on it's limit, when fitted to the standard S2 rims, but it is an approved size.

I recon it will probably work fine.....

I think Ali tried 205s a long time ago on the standard 5.5J S2 rims - was a step too far. 195 would be fine.

Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

Yep agree 205's are too wide for 5.5 inch rims. 195's will fit but can't get ad08 in that size. Ad07's are pretty cheap and work well with ad08 rears imo.

If you read the manufacturers spec on tyres they give you the wheel size they will fit. Just google it.

55 profile would be like off roader profile.

There's 41 mm of a difference between the 45 and 55 profile tyres. That's quite a bit. The spec on the 45 and 50 profile tyres say they won't fit a 5.5 inch rim. I agree 55 profile will.

From hours of web searching, I have ended up with AD07 175 55 16s sized rears and AD08s on the rear 225 45 17s.
Stuck to standard size as i couldn't find AD07/AD08 195s anywhere! 205s in abundance and i didn't want to mix brands, was cautious about Ad08/AD07 but it seems to be popular/ uncomplained about.
