Heater Matrix
Apparently no longer available from KL directly, you have to buy it from eliseparts.com now, and surprise surprise the price has jumped from about £70 when KL sold it to £106 + P&P from Elise Parts. Of course still cheaper than buying from a dealership which will charge around £150 apparently.Stephen wrote:The Elise heater matrix is a one off and can be purchased from

I have just bought and fitted a heater matrix from eBay seller 'demisterman' described as 'Lotus Elise 95-00 & TX2 taxi car heater matrix'. It's the exact same dimensions but seems MUCH better made! The OE matrix seems to fail in a good many/all(?) Elises so at £48 this alternative seems well worth the risk.
Sorry, no part numbers but hopefully this info is useful. Mods feel free to move / delete.
Cheers

Elise S1 B&C 140 - long time ago now
Re: Elise Part numbers
You have to be slightly careful posting all sorts of replacement numbers.
Wheel bearings for S1 for instance, the (cheap) replacements might fit the car, but how long will they last? I know the TImken bearing which is on the car as standard is not a straight forward jobby. In fact, the bearing is a known problem area.
Ball joints are more or less same story, we've thrown quite a few away because they simply were not right and the supplier thought they were perfect. We now ended up having a special partnumber and the guarantee that we'll always receive the same part. If it's not, it's returned. Now, that doesn't make them cheaper, but hey... you want to drive a million dollar looking car for ten pennies?
I'm not saying you should spend zillions on spare parts or should only buy original Lotus or so, but you really have to be careful. If you end up buying eight ball joints and have to throw four away because you pressed them in and found them no good after all, you're not a happy bunny.
Specifically with the Ball Joints, the companies who deliver the spares are not manufacturing them anymore. They simply buy 'a spec' from some big specbook. This spec is pretty wide, so you will find ball joints which will slide in the wishbone like a glove and you will find some which will strip the thread off the bolts of the tool as they are slightly too big. Then the ball doesn't move properly, so the car doesn't steer properly anymore etc. etc.
I understand you'd want to keep things low cost, but I can't imagine you want to end up with a bad suspension set up because of it..
